Two wonderful actors, well, mostly Erin, of course, who I fell in love with in Season 1. I loved the comment about Season 22. I think Kevin's comment about WCTH being a show the whole family can watch is spot on. It's also about the incredible writing, the production and, of course, all the actors. I'm old but I can't remember a show that gives so many moments to get up and cheer about, or that starts the tears flowing. It's going to be brutal to wait until 2025 for Season 12. 😍

Maybe just me. But Armad is so lackluster. All of the other characters have such a strong stage presence. From Daniel all the way to Claudia. Even some of the side characters (like the dress shop owner) and the other vampires in the coven give a much more powerful presence. Maybe that's the point, not sure. Maybe Armad will surprise me by the end of the season. Never thought I'd say this but I actually miss Lestat. It's a little boring without him. I may be a little biased bc I also didn't like Armad in the movie but I thought Banderas did a great job.

Eric Bogosian was really the perfect casting choice for Daniel because his persona is so cynical and direct and provocative. (You know right off the bat that nothing is getting past him.) But there are no one-dimensional characters in this series, and I've actually been more struck by those moments when his character cracks, and he is genuinely moved by Louis's emotions. Or when Armand is manipulating his thoughts and he gets lost. Those moments of vulnerability make his character that much more layered and interesting. It's really nice to hear Eric say that he's enjoying having the chance to play a more complicated character because it's the complexity and the nuances that make this series.

I worked on this film. I was the guy who spent every moment with these actors while not on set. I have worked on over 50 films. I have daughters the same age as Jordyn, the lead actress. Robert Baker has young children. These 2 actors changed me. It was not an easy shoot. There were moments when, for the first time in my career, walked off set. Normally, as crew, we are really disengaged. We are doing our jobs. Until this film, I had never actually watched a scene being filmed. On this one, I was with Jordyn and Robert every minute, and once on set, I was at the monitors with the director and DOP. Beyond the efforts of the actors, our director fought for this story. Normally, due to time, light availability, location curfews and the such, we will "trim" the story. Overtime on a film set is extremely costly, however, the crew doesn't jump for joy at the extra dollars. At hour 15, I'm tired. I drive home or to my hotel, set my alarm. Then, I go through production emails, What we had to accomplish, with the time and budget was impossible. This film went into overtime, every single day. There was not a single line, a single moment that our director was willing to sacrifice. Every second that we go over, comes out of the pocket of our executive producer, Howard Braunstein. I could not have more respect for a production team. This film went into overtime, every single day of the shoot. As crew, day 4 of OT, mutiny, lets walk, this is bullshit...then day 5, OT approved, we get it. It's not about money, this is something special. I, along with many others, filled out our DTR's for the remainder of the shoot ( Daily time reports) 15 hrs, 12 hrs etc. For me, 17hrs was my shortest day, 20 my longest. It went from agony to a mission. As someone who has worked with the best, this experience was surreal. Jordyn and Robert have delivered performances unmatched in my experience. In the end, all I can say, when we shot that final scene, when the radios lit up " and that is a show wrap, thanks everyone" I was beside the director, who fell into my arms, weeping. As we pack the trucks and say say goodbye at 3:30am on a Thursday night, we are on crew blackout, no talking, silence as we all just simply nod and hug each other. That was a ride. As you watch this film, please know that there are 60 people watching with you, who were blessed for this experience. I have worked on 60 films. i have never seen a single one. Most of us haven't. Most of us have no idea what the movie is about. Put up a light here, ask that jogger to stretch somewhere else, ask the guy 3 houses down to turn down the stereo. This film is special. The actors, the crew and the residents of Kelowna BC that gave us grace into the wee hours of the morning, especially the people where craft services was set up in the last few days of the shoot. A 10 x 10 tent of film carnies re-evaluating their lives while complaining that perogies are cold. My order,? Gluten free bread, tuna, cucumber. tomato, pepper. A bit of mayo, dash of mustard. Coke Zero. ( that is in my contract) Lead actress, Jordyn? "Peanut Butter sandwich, if you have the time, don't go to any trouble". Mark my word. Jordyn is special. I was supposed to be her rock. She ended up being mine.

I haven’t seen any of them mention Bailey at all, which feels like they’ve been told not to 😢 Delainey is doing great in the role but Bailey really laid some amazing foundations in s1
@juanita-dark12 күн бұрын
It's because Bailey's not in S2 and they're promoting S2 with Delainey. They had S1 to promote Bailey. When you've got a new actor, repeatedly referencing the old actor makes it more difficult for the audience to accept the new one. There's just no need.

In Season 1, Sam was in most every scene. In Season 2 (so far) he's in comparatively few. He and Jacob were spending tons of time together on and off screen, and that's obviously been greatly reduced. I think the chemistry is just more low-key.

I love that question to Eric about Anne & I appreciate how much respect he has for her as a writer. I know her family hasn't exactly supported this show, but I hope that one day they understand that the people behind it have a lot of love for the material & the author (Sam being a huge fan of the books long before knowing that one day he would play The Lestat).
@wildflouwirАй бұрын
Wasn't she working with production before she passed? Why aren't they supporting it?
Ай бұрын
@@wildflouwirNo, neither she nor Christopher (her son) worked on this show. They would never support anything that wasn't a faithful adaptation of the source material. Anne was very pernickety when it came to her work, and she wanted a show that followed the books down to the last detail. Long story short, she wanted to start with The Vampire Lestat because that is really the beginning of The Vampire Chronicles, as he is the protagonist of the series. I think the show is trying to make both Louis and Lestat co-leads, and that is something Anne wouldn't have agreed to. Lestat is the lead, and Louis is somewhat of a background character-important, but background nonetheless. Her son Christopher had penned a pilot script, but AMC rejected it once they'd gained the rights to the property. Hence why they withdrew all support after that. This show is vastly different from Anne's original vision. They are executive producers in name only but have nothing to do with the show itself. The showrunner actually said that Anne would be unhappy with a lot of the choices he has made.
@wildflouwirАй бұрын
Ahh ok thank you! That sucks- at the very least I wish they could've agreed to a spinoff, duel plot or something to appease both parties.
Ай бұрын
@@wildflouwir They could've just made a show inspired by The Vampire Chronicles and saved themselves a ton of money in the process. That way Anne's son could've kept shopping around and eventually come together with someone who wanted to make a show that was true to the books. That's not to say this show is bad, it's just like an alternate universe version of the chronicles.
@BriarPatchNyraАй бұрын
Starting with wolfkiller would've never worked. It gives away the whole story, and then justifying having the interview happen would be very difficult. I get why they wanted to do that after Lestat became protag, but it's actually more faithful to start with Louis. And I think it makes more sense to keep him around. Anne ended up backtracking and retconning a lot (that does not mean the books are bad!) Regardless, sometimes you have to look past an author and do your own thing. I don't care if she'd approve, cause the show is excellent.
