Looks like a great section of the Merrimack to kayak in with all those boulders... enough to keep the big boats away and the smallmouth plentiful! I keep meaning to put in there, gotta make it happen this year.

@FreshwaterFishingNovice18 күн бұрын
It’s just an animal. I just try to treat them as gently/nice a possible. It’s natural to feel bad for hooking a fish, you have (hopefully) minimally affect this fish. If you hook them correctly in the lip. Then the damage is signify minimaliized. The goal is to hook them correctly, I try to keep my line to the lure taught… so when i feel a nibble doodler, i can set the hook properly, minimalizing the damage to my fish friend. #noslackline

I wonder how often a bass will see a real live worm that isn't hooked? The fact that they eat plastic worms so often is a bit odd because they would have never adapted to feed on them naturally. Earthworms don't regularly go for swims. 😜
@FreshwaterFishingNovice28 күн бұрын
I’m guessing birds eating worms in trees/ birds nests dropping pieces of worms in the water might have something to do with it. I think this might be why I have success pitching worms towards shore under trees
@DpuckFishingandOutdoors28 күн бұрын
@@FreshwaterFishingNovice I am betting its the total novelty of it. The fact that they have never ever seen one in their life makes it unique. It's the curiosity. Let's eat this thing that is very noticeable. Something that stands out is normally doomed. Pros always talk about making the retrieves of baits "irregular." It's the injured bait fish that gets the predator fish to pay attention as the bait ball goes by. Albino and deformed animals never last. Bass are predators, predators are curious by nature, but not about how the world works, but about filling that belly.

What line is better mono, floro, or braided
@FreshwaterFishingNovice28 күн бұрын
Mono absorbs water and floats and stretches, flouro is the least visable sinks and stretches, braid is the strongest doesn’t stretch most visable and floats. So the answer varies from person to person. Personally I go braid main line with a flouro leader… unless I’m frogging, jigging, or big swim bait fishing I go with straight braid

Hey I just went fishing today, I have really good equipment and everything and I was fishing with a 10 pound line. I caught a 9 pound catfish and after that when I tried casting out after I released the fish and my line instantly snapped when I casted it and I lost a pretty expensive lure. I tied on another lure and again instantly broke my line again. I use monofilament and I was wondering if you knew why it kept snapping? Cause after I lost that second lure I decided to go home
@FreshwaterFishingNovice26 күн бұрын
There is are a few reasons this could be happening. 1st:not lubing your knots before tightening down can cause a hot spot basically melting your plastic line, 2nd: if fishing line is left in the heat or sun for an extended period of time… it gets week. Kinda the same this as the first. Plastic doesn’t like heat. I heard Walmart’s back stock is kept in tractor trailers that are not climate controlled… I think they keep those trucks in Georgia or Tennessee… so I don’t buy line from Walmart.

Came here wondering how does one go about knowing the water temp? Is there a water temp forecast (prediction) and/or water temp report (measured)? If so where does one look to find that info? Do you Literally check it with a thermometer? If so is there a special thermometer for fishing I should use if not what's the ideal thermometer? What depth do you check the temperature at the depth you'll be fishing? The surface temperature? The bottom? Got a vid on that topic? I'm guessing Oceanic water temperature reports exist, because I've heard similar stuff in surfing reports... but lakes ponds rivers and streams? I'm in a land locked state so oceanic reports wouldn't help me much...

For for those who want to know, for catfish you do need to be careful, they have whiskers that will sting you, but you can lip catfish as well but need to be careful of the whiskers. I would assume to also support it tho if you caught a huge one.
