Your reasoning is exactly why jokic should be mvp. The only other star on the team Murray was out a lot during the season. Jokic had to single handedly drop ridiculous stat lines every night and was able to drag his team to the best record in the league. No one was more valuable to their team than jokic, they are a .500 team MAYBE with out him. And every aspect of their offense and defense runs through him and they’re at the top of the league in stats for both

I don’t understand why people make this argument. Value is literally how much you contribute to your team. How good you are as a basketball player is based on what you produce on court. You could be a clone of KD with his skill set and length, but if you don’t have an nba level basketball IQ, you’re not going to be very good. Production on the court is all that matters, and if you’re not producing, then you’re not a good player and you don’t have any value. Also, Derrick Rose did not deserve that mvp. He was not the most valuable player. Value is literally what you produce on court, and if you produce the most value in the league, you’re the best player. Lastly, if you look at advance statistics, Jokic is leading almost all of them, including stats like: Win shares Value over replacement player Offensive plus minus Defensive plus minus Overall plus minus Player efficiency rating I think all these numbers kind of point to Jokic being the mvp.

I see what you mean, I do think that most believe that Jokic is the best player in the NBA so to me he would win best player. While SGA would be MVP because he helped elevate The Thunder exceptionally higher than most people’s preseason expectation of them. It’s all subjective I wouldn’t be upset if Jokic won
