Not play sand. Construction sand. Play sand can kill your chickens. Not always, but it can.

That is way better than I could do, but….does that run really protect the chickens from the winter weather? It can block some wind and rain, but my guess is that if you measure temps inside and out on a winter’s day….they would be the same. But I never had chickens and they may be fine with just the wind/rain protection.

Use sand like most ppl now instead of shaving a or straw……nasty options compared to the sand and scoop method. Also if using sand there is almost no chance of a fire…..no more so than our homes we sleep in lol.

I really need to find someone to help me get started from nothing even if I could work on someone's homestead and learn how to take care of stuff and build stuff I want to start out with two busses and a van and then build a cave house and a Halloween haunted attraction business Please someone help me. I also want help to make a online store and sell and make anime figures and Halloween stuff. If someone helped me make the online store and supplied me with some art supplies supported me with art supplies that would really help out a lot and id appreciate it. it all starts with creating a online store so I can make and sell the things I want to make. please help me.

Logs will promote pest and bad fungus growth, actually a terrible idea, just use soil, plenty of local places sell large quantities of soil, I’m not talking about the big box stores like Lowe’s and ext, for flowers it’s fine, don’t not do this for vegetables or cannabis plants, I have been growing vegetables and cannabis all my life not worth doing this for anything other than regular non edible plants

I don't recommend doing logs like that sure it helps save soil required but it will cause nitrogen to be unstable since nitrogen will be needed to break down the logs in order to access the nitrogen in logs

Did my beds like this, had two of them three years, no issues. My tomato’s are already thriving and as we know those are heavy feeders. Not saying it can’t cause issues but this is the most common method people use to fill beds

If you noticed they ADDED CHICKEN LITTER! Which is HIGH in NITROGEN! 6 months chicken MANURE is still consider HOT. So Nitrogen LOCK out is not a problem. LOOK UP HUGELKULTURE!

How'd yall fight off the ants? We live in Louisiana and I had two raised beds that we put the logs in and the fire ants took over the beds.
@shawnturner7064
@shawnturner7064 Күн бұрын
@@Victoria-uq8mf fire ants LOVE water! If you are watering too frequently they will thrive. Let your bed dry out quite a bit between watering. Meaning let your plants wilt before watering. This should run them off. Or make the habitat not habitiable. Hope this helps.

These issues he brings up are so true. Another one is in the late winter and early spring, our GP girl tracks A LOT of mud into the house. She’s an indoor dog, but we have a fenced-in acre that she plays in and can run around in. At 3, she weighs around 95 lbs., fully grown. Her father weighs around 154 lbs. Another issue is she barks loudly at practically everything, especially at night. She also has selective hearing when you call her in. She chases our cats around, which I don’t like. He’s right about living in a neighborhood where the houses are close to each other. Ours is not. This was a good video and so true. That said, we love our Great Pyrenees girl. Like he said, she’s like the sweetest teddy bear.

Dig a hole the size of a car tire. Fill with compost or just wood chips/straw. Hollow out the middle of it. Insert bowl. Water will stay liquid at least 3x longer.

Companionship when you aren't around. Since Guardian my 2 yr old Great Prynees came up missing 2 months ago, Annie, my pitbull/german sheperd preditor dog has been sulking and not herself. She's 12 years old and missing her left eye due to a hornet attack 2 falls ago. Guardian was her wingman when they would go after trespassing coyotes. When she came back 2 hours after they had given pursuit I didn't think much of it but when Guadian wasn't in the yard the next morning with a muskrat offering for Annie I knew something was wrong. To date he still hasn't returned and we've found no signs that he was killed. Late spring goose hunters were at a lake a half section behind our place and I believe they left a door open on their turck and he jumped in for a ride or they just saw a very big friendly dog and decided they needed him worse than we did. I'm currently in the process of adopting another prynees from a neighboring town that was an older kids pet, but for whatever reason the kids no longer have the time to spend with him. Annie & I need him so we're going for it. Thanks so much for these honest to the point videos.

This video was the reason I subscribed to your channel. I recently lost my 2 yr old to theft. He would jump into vehicles that left their doors open thinking he would get to ride. This may have led the person or persons unknown to assume he was abandoned or a runaway. He wasn't a roamer per say, he would go, at the most a half section (mile) but always with my preditor dog. He was her extra eye and they were inseperatible. Annie is a pitbull/german sheperd cross and lost her left eye to a hornet attack 2 falls ago. Guardian became her wingman when they would pursue the coyotes away from the property and either they would turn back because the coyotes were far enough away for dogs to break off or Annie made a kill. We've had other dogs stolen in this area that I became aware of through trying to find Guardian and one small dog took 2 years to track down the person that had him...found 2 states away in Wisconsin....I live in south central North Dakota. It was the end of spring goose season and there had been hunters in the area the evening that he disappeared. I had him scheduled to be chipped 2 weeks after he disappeared and he had a broad orange reflective collar on with a brass plate that had Catahula Hunting Club (Denhoff ND phone number) on it. He was solid white exceptionally tall and friendly. Anyway, everything you listed is true about them, but I've owned to date over the years 14 of these gentle giants. Guardian was both an inside and outside dog, but perferred to be outside doing his thing. Annie has been sulking around since his disappearance and clingy. I have an opportunity to own another from a person close to here who has 4 large dogs that belonged to her kids, but kids are either no longer at home or occupied with school activities to devote the attention needed. I look forward to the challenges in getting this new addition to the family. Loved this video very much and will check out your wife's video on reasons why you should own a Great Pyrnees. I won't quit looking for Guardian and I'll not be replacing him with this new to me dog, and if Guardian is found and returns Annie will have 2 wingmen to watch her 6's !!!

*NO D.E.* - "Food Grade" is NOT *"SAFE"* just because its SAYS "Food Grade" and *"ORGANIC"* !! DTE Raises SILICA DUST when dry in feed or dry DUST baths , and this causes respiratory PROBLEMS in birds AND bird OWNERS . DTE KILLS HONEY BEES *HORRIBLY* and _PAINFULLY_ . DTE is microbial SKELETONS . "Harmful to breathe" ?? Think SILICOSIS and *LUNG CANCER* . No short term symptoms ? Self-induced Silicosis and Lung Cancer take YEARS to develop . You probably have some on its way *NOW* . Sorry , but this is INESCAPABLE . The risk is * NOT* LOW . You are warned by the label to NOT BREATHE . Do NOT use ANY DTE with your chickens and ESPECIALLY _NOWHERE _*_NEAR_* your GARDEN , where - _you know_ - *HUMANS* FORAGE for Dinner !!

Bird was injured and ganged up on by the other chickens. Would have happened for any breed. Been raising Cornish crosses for 5 years now, our birds are always happy up till the day they hit the freezer. They look 'unhealthy' because they outgrow their feathers but it doesn't make them an unhealthy bird. We've tried other breeds for meat but it wasn't worth it in the end cause they take longer, take more feed and are not as good. Just my two cents.

My dad had a chicken that stopped laying eggs. Every six months my dad would go to a farm animal store and buy babies chick and turkeys and goose and Swans and ducks and she would take them under her wings and raise like she babies chick. I am a Mennonite and grew up in a farm my dad never killed our old chickens he would go buy little chickens and turkeys and goose and Swans and ducks for the one that stopped laying eggs or he would go buy eggs that had babies inside the eggs and put the eggs under the chickens.

I absolutely love your channel and always look forward to the next posts. I hate to voice concerns and hope they aren’t discouraging but I would hate to see you get further into the season and run into problems. One is, how are you going to be able to reach your hand into the new tomato “teepees” you just made to harvest the tomatoes that don’t grow on the outside? Second, won’t the weight of the vines and fruit cause the wire trellises to cave in since they don’t have supports at the peak of the arches?

Not trying to push my own channel, but if you have a moment, check out a recent short I did “how to grow 20 tomato plants in a 14x3 bed.” By FAR the best trellis system I’ve ever used!
