@@rippingburnoutsdrill holes at the back of the bug catcher so if water builds up at the back of it it'll run out. Only do so if it's a dedicated catcher and not one to the intake. I wouldn't recommend doing this with NA cars straight to the carbs. Because that's water directly into the intakes and valves.

I have a 2.5 in a colorado, similar? Would it be easy since the timing chain faces forward?
@rippingburnouts9 күн бұрын
I think that the Colorado 2.5L has two chains one that drives the cams and the other drives the oil pump I would replace both chains and all the guides and tensioners but it shouldn't be that difficult depending on your skill level just time consuming I think it's about an 8 hour job if I remember correctly.

Sweet, where at in Iowa? I'm in southeast IA burlington area. I'm just getting back into my third gen obsession and back to building my 84 ls swap after losing motivation for a couple years but a big jump-start to my motivation was scoring a pretty nice deal on an 88 TA I hauled home from Wisconsin a couple weeks ago. It was from california and at the price and how clean the chassis was, as a rust belt dweller I knew I had to grab it. Glad to see another one somewhat local being saved that definitely isn't ready to be yanked apart in a junkyard for parts
@rippingburnouts15 күн бұрын
I'm here in Dubuque IA. I didn't need another project but when I found out the junkyard was coming for the car I felt it had to much potential to let it get scraped. I hope to get it back on the road soon it definitely needs some work but after going though the car it shouldn't take to much to make a good driving car out of it. I hope you keep your motivation up and get your project up and running too! Thanks for watching

You can get bad clunking also but the slow speed squeaking noise is almost always a bad joint.

Worst case scenario do you think a bad u joint would seize , I have a problem with my car going into gear but it feels like the wheels stop ? Could be the transmission but it goes into gears good when on the road my main problem is when I start the car and want to reverse or go into drive
@rippingburnouts18 күн бұрын
@@jerrysanchez6411 I have had U-joints freeze and lock up so it can happen but if it's that bad that it is locking up I would think it should be a visible problem that you should be able to see like rust coming out of the joint or worn caps that look off set and not centered.

Sweet ride, sad they put those similar wheels on the 91 grand am. I thought someone put grand am wheels on it until I looked it up. I have a 1979 ta. And I bet your 5.3L has nearly double the HP my stock 403 6.6L has 😂😂😂
@rippingburnoutsАй бұрын
They also put them rims on the late 80's early 90's Sunbird not a big fan of the wheels. And the 5.3 does make about double the power of the stock 400. But the motor I broke was built and I had it running 12.40 in the quarter and I am guessing the 5.3L is not going to be as fast as my 400 was but much less expensive.
@gregblack8550Ай бұрын
Pull that out and put a 455 in it as intended.
@rippingburnoutsАй бұрын
Had a 400 in it for 22 years but when it broke it destroyed the block and head so the free 5.3 I had was my cost saving solution to get it back on the road for this year's power tour I can always change it back but Pontiac's aren't cheep.

Where you located Kurt? What would you recommend for an upgraded suspension system on my 1968 Oldsmobile 98? I want to put a bigger wheel 26 inch on it and want it to ride good I also want to change the drum to disc brakes, Any advice would be helpful
@rippingburnoutsАй бұрын
I'm in eastern Iowa. I am not sure what brake kits and other parts are available for that car. The full size Oldsmobile cars are some times hard to find parts to upgrade the brakes and suspension so your options may be limited by what is available for your car. Or you may have to make some custom parts and that can get expensive.
