The biggest thing I hate about the PD tripod is it was made for photographers... They either forgot or just gave up on the idea of making one for videographers.

These style of tripods are definitely nowhere near as secure and sturdy as a large Manfrotto tripod. But you get so much portability in exchange. I haven’t used it yet, but the new Ulanzi TreeRoot looks like it could be the best tripod in this style.

These aren't wedding lighting questions but how loud is the fan? If you were to use it in your talking head video, would it be too loud? and lastly, what light are you using in this video to light you?
@JoshBirman9 күн бұрын
The fan isn’t very quiet. I didn’t do any testing or anything, but I never noticed it. I think it’d be totally fine for a talking head. Lights I used for this video: My key was an Aputure 300X with a Light Dome. The lights in the background were Aputure 60X x2, Aputure 120D II, Aputure F7, and Godox SL60.

Lack of Arca-Swiss compatibility is a deal breaker for me. TBH, I was never really impressed with the Peak Design tripod to begin with. Currently looking for a decent travel tripod, but unfortunately this one won't do it for me.

I have been comparing this tripod with the Ulanzi Zero F38. That head is compatible with peak design plates, but works with longer arca swiss plates as well
@myrnamalkin823610 күн бұрын
@@Ken-Hung I like everything about the F38 except that I prefer having the plate actually lock in rather than tightening it with a thumb screw. I use Peak Design plates and Peak Design Slide Straps on all my cameras so it should work well.

I saw another video of this tripod and it appeared that you could flip the ball head into the vertical position and then loosen a set screw on the side of the ball head with the attached tool and then when you flip the ball head back to horizontal it will pan. According to the manufacturer it is advertised as having a 360 degree pan function.

Like you, I’ve been in the market for a budget monitor. I was upgrading to a 7 inch monitor so I could use it for outdoor use and a lot of these monitors aren’t bright enough for outdoor use. I have the Atmos ninja V and yes, it’s a pain in the ass to turn off. But someone in the Sony FX 30 group posted a picture of his Samsung galaxy note 10 cell phone as a monitor and I asked how he hooked it up. Because I’ve seen lot of videos and the ascoon connector that you can use iPhones or iPads as a monitor. He told me about the monitor plus app on Samsung or android store. So using that app and I can connect either my Samsung S22 ultra cell phone and Samsung S9 Ultra tablet which has a 14.6 inch screen and all you have to do is connect it by USB-C cable to both the tablet and FX 30. So it made my camera set up super light with the cell phone and when I want to use the tablet, I just place it on its own tripod. Stand for indoor use like interviews. But I did pick up portkeys lh7p 7 inch monitor for my other camera. Thanks for sharing this video.

One of the reasons I bought it was because it has the foot I personally like using the foot as a platform to hold it on when I’m running around shooting video or photography. Especially when I’m shooting video because I have the 28 to 70 and the 85 f/1.2 and since they don’t have any lens support to mount the camera body to the tripod seems to me to put a lot of strain on the mount, so I like being able to mount it to the foot now instead.

I have a c70 as well. Mostly shooting weddings. Still not sure if I need an external monitor but I feel like some little thing I would change I only notice at home watching the footage on the big screen so I'm not sure... To get or not to get... Do you see huge difference with external monitor?
@JoshBirmanАй бұрын
The main reason I use an external monitor is so that I can pull the camera in close to my body. Outside of that, I’d just use the camera’s LCD
@g_bАй бұрын
@@JoshBirman Gotcha. Thank you for replying. I mostly use it on gimbal and don't want to add an extra weight. So I guess after your response I'll just stay on the c70 native monitor to save my back a bit :))

I first bought the RS 3 mini but it couldn't balance my A7R III with a small zoom (Sigma 28-70). It was also very difficult to balance. In contrast, the Weebill 3E handled this camera and lens without any problems.
@bencompsonАй бұрын
I think the deal breaker for a lot of photographers will be that the head does not accept Arca-Swiss plates and brackets. The Peak Design style plate is fine for small cameras but is not as robust as an A-S bracket or plate designed for the specific camera body or lens. The plate for this tripod can twist where it attaches to the camera. And so many photographers already have L-brackets and dedicated plates and this tripod will make them useless. The Ulanzi F-38 QD head is the same way. The Ulanzi Zero Y tripod accepts A-S plates and brackets AND the Peak Design style plates. Not sure why they all aren't that way. I do not have any of these tripods yet. The cost of the Peak Design tripod (which will accept A-S plates) is ridiculous. Reviews of the Ulanzi Zero Y indicate that the knob that clamps the plate to the head comes loose easily risking the camera falling off. I still haven't found the right combo of design, price, flexibility and quality.

What is the difference between the lt32 & lt 35? Is it the panning & iPhone attachment? Weight seems the same?

price performance alone this is better, but I really don't admire it's almost a slightly modded, 90% copy peak design concept, it's undermining the creativity... and for PD they have crazy CS and repairability, not sure if these will offer similar degree of repairability or free replacement when some of these new designs goes flimsy and breaks

How do you speak on, and make a video on something you have no experience with? Why are you doing a video on a brand you don't even shoot? Is this just for the sake of making a film? Im genuinely curious? Why wouldn't this be about canon, seeing you're a canon shooter? P.s.. Where is there an FX3 3600? Are you not from Vancouver? You didn't even mention the A7s3... Other than the one time, and you gave it ZERO respect... That in itself says you know NADDA about Sony.. My guy, you really dont know Sony period.. Those cine options are really not much different at all form FX3 to a7s3... I personally as a Sony shooter feel you need to make the change to Sony and spend a couple years on their systems or just stay in your lane.. Much respect to your channel and your content, but this is embarrassing.

Fun to hear a Canon guy Talk Sony. I agree with 90% of what you said. The Freewell ND’s are really good and usually run about $100. The Polar pro is worth it for your A cam. Also I only really use a V60 on my A cam. Most people could get away with much cheaper cards. As long as you don’t want S&Q Timelapse’s or 4k 120 you can get away with a V30. I use slow (170mbps) cards on my C&D because I only shoot 4k 24 on those. Samyang 35-150 and Tamron 70-180 are good recommendations. Those would be mine. I also bought two of those crappy Sony 55-210’s early in my career. I still have a a film on my website where I used those.
