Really enjoy your offshore videos Do u do charters? Or can u recommend someone for a Big Mango Trip? Thanks!

love your videos really informative but the fish you are calling a margate in this video is a jolt head porgy, margates look more like a large white grunt

What depth do you recommend your chum bag is placed at? Just at side of boat, or do you sink it further or to the bottom?
@jb56763 ай бұрын
What is in your chum bag? Are you using a frozen chum block, or is it something you cut up and make yourself?

A lot of the people making decisions for the gulf are in Washington state. They don't fish, but they have some (often times) BS biology degree that qualifies them to make decisions with no real world experience in our waters. NOAA just got a large sum of money to research how climate change effects our fisheries. Can you just imagine the ideas they will come up with when they apply all of the bad data they have from the last 50 years? They have already proposed a 10 knot speed limit in the gulf. They decided oil rigs kill whales, putting out windmills doesn't hurt whales at all. Good science is dead at NOAA.

I know they love the unmistakable sound of a speargun. You may try going back to an anchor. I use an anchor ball.

It is amazing how selective sharks and even dolphin can be, grunts must really taste like crap to them 😛. Probably more to do with scales or something though as they will both eat smooth skinned(tiny scales) fish like hogs, grouper in a second. Hard to believe they can be that selective when a fish is struggling on a line but they sure are. Fished channel in bay a lot and have watched dolphin follow and look over grunts but never eat them, hook a grouper and it’s a different story.

Shark populations and fish stock populations are way down as well. Fisherman and sharks are competing for the same fish. Sharks learn where they can get an easy meal. Start fishing other areas.

Laws requiring size and quantity limits are to keep the fisheries strong and balanced. With shark and Goliath grouper taking so many fish from fishermen, I wonder how many fish of all sizes and species are taken each year compared to previous years. If two people caught their limits on Hogfish one day, how many Hogfish and bycatch of all sizes were taken by sharks? Two, three, five times more than the laws allow? If so, the fisheries can't keep up with the loss. What now? I see only two options. Stop all fishing (shark feeding) in certain areas, or start bang-sticking sharks and Goliaths. Both ideas sound harsh, but what else can we do? If we keep things as they are, we'll lose the smaller fish, and ironically, the sharks will eventually disappear, too.

This would piss me off to no end. Start taking them. The Bahama's you can't kill any of them. Right!

Heavy rig, big bait and circle hook to catch and kill. Simple.

Everybody should be doing their part to manage the population of sharks right now.

Yup. 100%. Time to open up some shark species. They are choosy. Mostly take hogs, snapper and gags. And it's the hardest fighting (bigger) fish that they mostly take - we get the little ones that are faster to pull in.

You are 100% right . The sharks have been conditioned to go for the easy meal on our hooks. They always seem to take the nicest fish. My experience lately has been both with Bull sharks and Sandbar sharks. Glad you made this video.

I would love to know the unwritten rule on how close/far those drive-by's should be. Every second day I'm out, some guy (s) go cruising by right through my fishing spot and near my lines. Like no courtesy or intentional disruption.

I don’t understand how to find these fishing spots I’ve spent countless hours just running out of eggmont Chanel and never finding any spots. Are your spots passed down to you or how do you find spots

I ran over a spot yesterday that looked like that in 70'. Drooped some shrimp down can caught lots of lane snapper and small red grouper. Didn't spend much time on the spot. Do.lots of lane snapper seem to be a good spot to go back and drop better bait on?

these rules for a qualifying record are extremely stupid. was the fish speared and landed? yes. ok who caught it? 2 guys got it in the boat. ok so why cant they both be in the record books? not enough room on the page for an extra name?? foh
