Usually I do heat shrink butt connector, liquid electrical tape, tube heat shrink over that, then wrap with electrical tape & then wire loom. It may be over kill but I don’t want them to corrode again. & obviously can’t do that on every repair but when I have the access & time that’s how I like to do it

I work on heavy equipment 90% of the time. Using sockets 3 inches and bigger, a lot. Nothing made will come close to an Ingersoll Rand 2850 Qmax.... I can assure you that.. I have tried CP, Snap On, Mac, Air Crap... all the big names. Harbor Freight is just as strong as most of those I named. No matter where it is made. And no matter how long it lasts, and none of my IRs have ever failed, I need the power when on location right then. Not being able to get a nut off something like a massive cylinder shaft can cost enough money to buy a dozen or more big impact wrenches. If you have the air, you will not beat IRs power....period.
@BeardedSeabee82
@BeardedSeabee82 12 күн бұрын
I cannot speak to the 2850, but can say, in regards to 2135qimax, their quality steadily went down the crapper as they went from "Made in USA" to "Assembled in USA" to straight up "Made in China". For what they cost, especially with bad qc and only a 1 year warranty, there are far better options out there. My snap on pt850 outlived and outperformed about 8 of the 3/4" IR's and my capri 3/4 still going strong past 5 years, also out living about 4 of the IR's at shop I was at.
@timberslasher4899

@BeardedSeabee82 I totally understand what you are saying. I haven't ever had an IR to just up and fail. But im not saying it doesn't happen to a lot of people. I guess I am more interested in power right then and there. Because if I can't get a repair done at that moment and then have to go off job for it then everything stops and the money lost per hour is as much as several of these wrenches cost and 5 families income has stopped. I do think IRs vane motor is the best in the business now, maybe engineed in the USA. The reason I say that ,the more air you throw at it the stronger it gets where I find most of these guns won't improve much once you get to 110ish psi as long as the volume is there. But I can tell these Q impacts like however much they can get. Example: Was trying to get bolts out of the end of a hyd cylinder. They were allen head with 7/8" thread shaft size. Between 2 service trucks on scene there was the 2850, my CP 1" drive, and the best 1" Harbor Freight makes. At 120 pounds leaving the tank they all just bounce, but I can push the pressure on up with a little adjustment. So after bumping it up to about 170 psi the CP and the Harbor had no change(the Harbor 1" impact is surprising for the money it costs though I will say), but the 2850 started jerking them right out. And that has been the case a few times, I have increased pressure and it has improved where others didn't. I can't speak much for the 3/4" version, I have one but haven't used it much. I have had decent luck with Snap On, Mac, CP. I do not like Snap On battery stuff. I had Snap On Battery before Milwaukee even got into it. I paid about 450 bucks for a 1/2" battery impact in about 06' or 07' and when Milwaukee Fuel came out soon after I thought I would try since it was about half the price. Glad I did because it had a good bit more power, but the weight and battery blew Snap On away. And that Milwaukee is still working, and is a heavily used tool, most everyday. Only have had to take it apart and clean it a couple times. After they get so dirty inside they start shorting and the current protection kicks in. The only brand I have owned that I have had chronic problems with would be Air Cat. I just deal with such big nuts, bolts, pins, etc. that power trumps longevity. Logging equipment has gotten so big. When I started back 30 years ago most people could pull their skidders on a 10 ton trailer, and now we haul them on 35 ton detachable. Went from about 17,000 pounds to 48,000 pounds in that time. Have a tree cutting machine on tracks pushing 70,000 pounds, and there are bigger out there, up to 100,000 pounds. All this equals big steel under big torgue.
@BeardedSeabee82
@BeardedSeabee82 12 күн бұрын
@@timberslasher4899 will def agree on milwaukee, price and power for fuel options they have definitly outweighs what snap on offers, especially for warranty on tools and batteries. As for air, last shop where had the IR stuff, we ran screw compressor at kick in at 135psi and cut oit at 150, volume and psi never an issue in regards to semi truck and trailer work. Air cat, i had 1/2" compact that loved, but it started failing befpre 2 yr warranty was up, and aircats warranty process is crap. So they are kind of pn my shit list for that.

Hello again, Breaded Seabee Thank you for another Great Video 👍 What timely video as I am researching for my next tool purchase. Screwdrivers are on the list. My current set is a mixture of Old school Craftsman and Popular Mechanics Screwdrivers. The Popular Mechanics I bought at Walmart for about $10.00. There almost twenty years old. Are they the best thing since sliced bread. Sadly no. What they do have is gripping teeth or groves on the Tips. When I found them they were the only ones offering such a feature. And they work. In comparison to the coating on today's screwdrivers. Will I get the same capacity and long-term use. Again thank you 😆

@BeardedSeabee82 Hello again, BeardedSeabee82, thank you for responding back to me. The coating that is being used today. How long does that last and does it really help get screws out? Final question, is that a warranty item if it wears off? I lied, about the final question, why don't screwdriver bits come coated? Maybe I missed it? Again thank you 😆

I've been using a Husky set that I really like for the last five years. Every now and then I see a nice set on the truck or online and I'm tempted, but I'm happy with my Husky's. I like large odd shaped handles because of hand arthritis, it makes it easier to get a grip. I've gotta get some of those Olsa screw driver holders. I like those a lot

Also check out cougar pro ratcheting wrenches they’re great combination wrenches designed and operation is overseen in Taiwan by a bit of a dinosaur not getting with the times and will be what puts them out eventually unfortunately but they’re called wright tool out of Barberton Ohio and they are one of the true few American companies still doing it all in America supporting a local town’s economy and make some of the finest impact sockets and wrenches you’ll ever lay hands on, seriously…but you should check out tone koken and tone tools koken in particular as it seems you liked the tight tolerances 😂 dont we all

Wright makes amazing tools and they are always on my suggestiins for "Snap on quality, but a lil more budget friendly" and they make an amazing wrench. As for the olsa ratchet wrenches, they are what Gear Wrench used to be before apex bought them out and lowered their quality and shipped their ratchet wrench productiin to china. As for the other brands havent really heard much about them or tried them, and yes sometimes we all enjoy tighter tolerances in certain instances😆👍

It is nice to hear that the Snap on has a nine volt battery like the Fluke. My first multi meter was a Snap on (I don’t remember the model, but it looked like the one you are comparing without the nicer screen) and it had AA batteries that corroded so bad that about the time the original batteries were dead, it was not repairable. I then got a Fluke 88V and have never looked back. The Fluke leads are better and I feel like I trust it more than the Snap on.
