This was delicious! Came out very well. I'm actually going to skewer some fish balls and the previously cooked daikon for a 4th of July BBQ, and will brush this sauce on it as we grill them. I added an extra tsbp of slurry to thicken it up more. Excited to see how it turns out

can i cook this on the stovetop for a few hours if i dont have an instant pot?
@dingdingkitchen2 ай бұрын
Yes of course. After adding the water, just turn to medium low heat and simmer for about 2 hours 🙂

I dont have sichuan peppercorn (i only have the normal pepper) and dried tangerine peel. Can I cook this without those?
@dingdingkitchen2 ай бұрын
Yes you can. Just be cautious of the amount of pepper you put. Start with 1/8 to 1/4 tsp for now and see how it tastes 🙂

This looks awesome! It's one of my family's favorites and I've always wanted to try to make it at home. Does it work in the same ratios if I don't have an instant pot?
@dingdingkitchen6 ай бұрын
Yes it is still the same ratio. Check the description box for full instructions without the instant pot. Thank you for your comment 😊

Hi chef, can use different brand chilli oil? I dont have the lao gan ma brand? Im interested to try your recipe 😊😊. Also how long can we keep this in room temperature?
@dingdingkitchen8 ай бұрын
Yes! You can use any chili oil you'd like. I don't recommend keeping it at room temperature as most sambal recipes say to keep in refrigerated. The oil helps to preserve the sambal but I'm not sure how long it should last because of the shallots and belacan. In the refrigerator it should be okay between 1-2 weeks. You could consider making a smaller portion, or give away the rest to friends and family if you can't keep it refrigerated. Thanks for your question 🙂

Hi chef, can substitute beef broth with chicken broth instead?
@dingdingkitchen9 ай бұрын
Yes if you can if you dont have/eat beef. I recommend beef as it has a richer flavour for the gravy. Chicken broth usually has more sodium so adjust the recipe accordingly. Thanks for your comment 🙂
