Personally don't like the new front, looks like they just tacked on a piece after designing the headlights, plus the grille is not good IMO. But if an awd hybrid comes out I might have to give in as that was the only thing keeping me from buying one. AWD hybrid with 4k tow package is my dream, just wished they had a different front

So as you said in the beginning the stock s10 weighed 3040+750 for trailer making it 3790lb. I have one of those utility beds on my ranger and it weighs 715lb. The ladder rack probably adds 150lb. The original pickup bed weighed 200lb. Which means that in total you were at 4455lb basically 4500lb.

I’m trying to get a reliable used car and the 2016 hybrid version popped up around my area at 80k miles for $11000. I need something reliable and durable for my occasional 40-50mile trips possible once or twice a month. What do you think??

go with an Energi plug-in. Hybrids due have an issue with a pump (cant think of the name) where they literally pop out of the transmission while the Energi plug-in has a different pump design.

I changed my oil at 1000 miles and to my surprise the oil filter was as heavy as a brick. Just a thought of caution. Also I manually tightened splash guard cover and two screws were already stripped. Cheap retainers

I just found one today on Facebook marketplace. Can you still find parts for this truck? I finally bought my first diesel truck and now I’m in love with them. I’m in California, so I would prefer a smog exempt diesel truck just so I can give this beautiful state ran by idiot the 🖕.😂😂😂

Definitely a fan of "small" trucks with better mpg and a lower overall price tag. The 4 doors, seating for 5 and a short bed seem to work for and are adequate for most people. Really wish they'd offer a single or access cab with a 6' bed. I'll never need or use rear seating and a long bed would be so much more practical for my needs. I've always thought the tail lights looked proportionally too big for the width and height of this vehicle's rear end. They look like they're sized for a F150. Thankyou for sharing.

Oh well, it has way too many frigin' doors anyway...sour grapes! I'm holding out for a proper 2 door El Camino made right here in the USA. If CAFE restrictions mandate that it have 4 doors if it burns gas...fine...make a 4 door gas and a 2 door electric version that gets all the EV tax credits. Chevy will sell a billion!!!

To me the only upgrades that were really necessary were, the bigger screen, a hybrid AWD tow option, a steering wheel that doesn't look like it came from a bargain parts bin, and not a full redesign but a little more fine tuning for the exterior styling, just a little polishing is all Not a fan of the new exterior styling. Mostly the grill and headlights. And I fear all these unnecessary upgrades like a full digital gauge cluster, 360 camera, LED lights and such will drive up the price I'm happy to live without these for a cheaper price. The current Ford Maverick is already a winner. It doesn't need all these additional bells and whistles. Just a few tweaks here and there to make it a perfect compact economy truck in my opinion.

@55whiplash
@55whiplash Ай бұрын
You did a nice job, but. I'd never follow the manufacturer's oil, or any fluid change interval, they get incentives from the government to specify high oil change mileage. The CAFE gas mileage standards are insane, and oil change intervals are incorporated. Secondly, the intervals are designed to get the engine (or transmission)to the end of the warranty, they are happy to sell you a new car then/ I'm inclined to listen to "The Motor Oil Geek" who changed his new car at 500, 5000, and then 10,000 miles. A direct injected turbo engine should be changed every 4000, or less, IMO.

So my xB has a radiator leak on the back side of the engine near the temp coolant sensor, I have replaced all the hoses on that side and the sensor. I am thinking the head is cracked or a head gasket leak on the exhaust side as there is no coolant in the oil, car doesn't overheat or blow smoke but have to add coolant pretty consistantly. thoughts?

Nice video! Just a couple of free suggestions. Before pulling the plug snd filter, I like to remove the oil fill cap and pull up the dipstick. I’ve heard this gives a smoother and more complete drain. Also, just a pet peeve, but I’ve never understood using the dirty oil to lube the new filter gasket. Why not do that with fresh oil?
@mechanicbuilt
@mechanicbuilt Ай бұрын
Yes ive done the dipstick method and cap method i should apply it to my next oil change video . Out of the hundreds of oil changes using old oil has been standard in MOST cases. im assuming you dont want to contaminate your new oil, or accidently spill out more then what you want. When i used oil barrels with fill nozzles i use to pour a smidge in a cap and use fresh oil, you only need to apply a film of oil, so that little cap gets wasted. Though yes! If you can you can use new oil though a film of used good oil never hurts either 😅

The big problem with the chrome capped lug nuts is not so much the deterioration of the look of them, but the fact that rust builds up over time between the chrome cap and the steel inner lug nut, causing the chrome cap to swell to the point where the lug wrench will no longer fit over the lug nut, making them impossible to remove, especially problematic if you have a flat tire on the road and you don't have access to numerous other slightly larger socket sizes that will enable you to get the lug nuts off. You are really stuck and even road service may not be able to help you.
