I´m very much interested in all the videos you mentioned. 😁 Your garden is lovely and the new pergola will be wonderful. I´m thinking (for years) about adding one to my garden too. But it´s so much work. Already July today - isn´t it crazy? Hugs from Germany

Thank you, I’ll start thinking about the other videos! I’m excited to see the pergola but currently am feeling a bit overwhelmed. The various stages of DIY-right?

It´s wonderful how you have transformed that before very boring garden into a lovely place for you, your family and all the animals. I also love my scabiosa. And I want a Destemona for so long but everytime I buy a new rose it´s not her. (Why? I don´t know. Maybe DA has way to many beautiful ones). 😅 I´m relieved to see an other garden with signs of slugs. We have so much rain - they destroy everthing. 🙄 Thank you for the tour of your May garden! Love from Germany

Thank you so much for your comment! Where about in Germany are you? I lived in Berlin until I was 13. It's so hard to choose roses from DA isn't it? There are just so many gorgeous ones. Which ones did you go for? The slugs have really tested my reserve to "live and let live", the combination of my dog knocking growth of plants and the slugs eating the new growth is rather frustrating. Im hoping that once my tadpoles grow up they will take care of the slugs for me.

@@JoyfulGardentv Good Morning, I´m near the Lake of Constance - in the south of Germany. Slugs are really frustrating. But well - it´s nature. Let´s see - I have Gertrude Jekyll, James Gallway, Mary Rose, The Ancient Mariner, Heritage (which is stuggeling), Wildeve, Emily Bonte (don´t know how to make the dots) and Eustacia Vye. And many others which are not from DA. And my garden is quite small. It´s just packed full. 😅Have a nice weekend!

Oh good idea, doing a shaded bit in your garden; we are lucky to have a south facing garden and it does get hot - even in Scotland!

I'm in Dunblane and have found spring to be very cold. Feel like we are a few weeks behind, glad to see a KZfaq video from Scotland. Loving your new terrace.
@JoyfulGardentvАй бұрын
Thank you! The terrace has been such a great addition! I think the microclimate of being in the city and having a south facing garden has meant that a few of my plants aren't doing too badly. I also think not having any frosts in February and March helped. How is your garden coming along now?
@mariniedermeyer72352 ай бұрын
Hi, just came across your channel whilst I was checking out other people’s gardens in April and how they are doing as it has been quiet an interesting spring this year with temperatures from up to 28°C down to -5°C and snow again. All my roses have big buds and I would estimate the first one opening in a couple of days! I’m really interested in your pond! We tried it once in a big bucket but fairly quickly it had mosquito larvae and algae. Your pond doesn’t look that big either, how do you deal with all these pests? Btw I planted Scabiosa for all the same reasons you are planting it but mine totally failed. Only bloomed once, had gangly stems and eventually rotted.😅 We have really heavy clay soil that is always a little wet. So I guess it wasn’t the right environment. Replaced it with Armeria maritima, hoping it’ll work and the insects seem to love it just as much! Happy gardening from Switzerland 🇨🇭
@JoyfulGardentvАй бұрын
Oh I'm sorry your scabious didn't make it. Do you have heavy clay soil? It might have been a drainage issue. We get A LOT of rain here (especially the last two weeks) but my scabious have been ok. I do have quite free draining soil though. Maybe try again with more organic matter to aid drainage? my pond is about a 1m by nearly 2m, so it isn't big. I read that by adding lots of different plants, underwater, water covering etc plants the pond should settle after a few years and look after itself. I had a lot of algae last year (its first year) but none yet this year. I did have a bit of mosquito larvae but the tadpoles and newts took care of them. Are you tempted to try again with your pond?

Liking the garden already looking forward to see how it progresses during the year. Just one little suggestion , could you increase the exposure on your camera, as your videos are a little dark and you have a job to see the details, even full screen on the iPad. It did increase towards the end of the video
