Yup, got a Cherokee 180. Proud to fly it safely in the Idaho backcountry. Looks weird next to the $200,000 plus STOL equipped bush airplanes but it works for me and all I can afford

Curious. How much of a difference does it make between 30 and 40 deg flaps?

Awesome video Dan and Bryan. It was great to get an in-depth view of how and what you use. I have that same tie down mount and it really is a great product. The cameras I had have giving me some trouble, and I plan going to the GoPro soon. I really need to get back into making some videos. I have been slacking. Thank you for all you do and share. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️

What about using a slap stick to sync the video both front and back end? What about mounting cameras using the back windows? is there a way to mount a camera on the seat? What about mounting a camera up top inside center back passenger area? Is there insurance for the outside cameras in case you lose any of them? What about your editing machines? Do you use a audio mixing board that has either usb 2.0 or 3.0? [I have one that uses firewire].
@TakingOff
@TakingOff Сағат бұрын
Let's see if I can answer these in order. Slap stick, you mean a slate? a clap does the trick. Suction cup would probably work. I do- I have two mounts on the ceiling and can turn cameras back towards pax. Good luck finding insurance for that. I edit on my computer- that's my machine. I dont use an audio board- I use the audio tools in my editing software.

What technique do you use for syncing video?
@TakingOff
@TakingOff 4 сағат бұрын
Usually I just give a clap when I roll cameras and have audio rolling. I've bought the GoPro remote, but it doesn't always "see" all the cameras, so Ive rarely used it. ANother technique I've done is to put a timer on my phone and start each camera and flash the phone in front of the lens to get the time. Then can sync with math. For exterior cameras, I'll sync based on the initial prop movement or when I close the airplane door.

Does a logbook entry suffice for a modification. To certificated airplane? I thought mounting cameras externally on a certified plane required an STC.
@TakingOff
@TakingOff 4 сағат бұрын
Its gray. And different mounting might require different paperwork. If temporary, no tools etc (like that tie down mount) no entry is necessary. For some of the others, it might just be a sign off from you IA. And for more involved stuff, a 337 or a STC.

OK, I gotcha. I am not proficient in the Quik app. I use it for Key framing my 360 videos, but I do all my editing in Premier. Da Vinci has a free version that’s fairly robust, you could probably do it in that.

I’m a skydiving and I’ve done it four times. I was very nervous and excited when I did it for the first time, but once my feet left the plane. It was so much fun and I could not stop screaming from the excitement of the freefall and the parachute, the wild ride. Spun really hard, me and my instructor were just partying up there. We did that both in freefall, and in the parachute. I still get that same excitement when I go in skydive again. There is still a tiny bit amount of nerves, but I can barely feel it because I get way too excited. It’s just something about that feeling that you cannot get enough of. I did it at the exact same location as you did. All four of them. They are awesome. One thing I would say to first time sky divers, have a good breakfast that morning and maybe have a little coffee. Why? That way you do not get nauseous and there’s so much adrenaline that if you have a good breakfast that morning, you don’t have to worry about any motion, sickness, or being nauseous. I’m so excited for July 25 because I’m going back for another tandem because it’s too fun.!!!!

Way to go Christy! Good job overcoming your fears. Brought back my own memories from 53 years ago when I was 19 attending US Navy Parachute Rigger school in Lakehust, New Jersey. To give us confidence in our own work performance because other peoples lives depended on us doing our job 100%, we packed our own main and reserve parachute and jumped twice freefall. No static line! I remember now how much of a rush it was and will never forget it. You won't forget either I'm sure. Congratulations and best wishes to you and the channel.

So how else are you supposed to measure or deem a potential landing site safe if you are not able to do a ‘landing inspection’ using visual time speed and distance? If the site is not deemed safe by the pilot in command he/she just don’t land.

Christy, my experience mirrored yours almost exactly: Not too nervous at first, then huge nerves when I got close to jumping. Watching all the people in front of me.depart the plane almost made me back out! It also took my breath away when I jumped. I HATED the freefall part. I was nercous as we.came in to land, amd my thought when i was done was "Cool experience. No desire to do it again". The only difference is i wasnt nervous at all once the chute deployed. I loved that part and found it relaxing. I didn't fly though. I didnt realize until I watched my video that i never felt the insteuctor tap my shoulder which was supposed to be my cue to let go of the harness and hold my arm out. I kept a death grip the whole time.😂

I did my first c. mid 70's... static line, years before tandems even existed; Lake Elsinore CA out of a ragged old time Howard DGA-15. John Campbell taught the first jump course, and did so for many years back then. I went mostly for the one time experience, but ended up jumping for decades... never looked back. First time watching folks fall away (from inside) the aircraft, in itself can in itself be overwhelming... no matter how much video you've seen. Congrats! As was commonly said in those days, Christy and all can no longer be known as mere 'Surface Dwellers!'
