Horowitz the most powerful... Lim the cleanest... All the rest sound similar but just as electrifying.

Another great piano concerto finale is from Medtner's 3rd piano concert (best coda ever)! No wonder Rachmaninoff said about Medtner, that he is the best composer of his time!

Best symphonic finale ever? Why, the 2nd movement of Gottschalk's "A Night under the Tropics" Symphony, of course!

That fact that you have two videos highlighting two different pieces of music, yet claiming each has the greatest finale ever written has me thinking four things: 1. Both could be equally good and thus, share 1st place. 2. You thought the first was the best until you discovered the second. 3. Neither is the best, and there must be a better one still out there. 4. This is purely subjective and therefore there is no "greatest" finale, but a list of many which different people can pick from.

The libretto is just so beautiful. After a sorrowful farewell, it sings the blossoms in spring, the forever blue horizon, and the hope of reunion.

Totally I agree, All Mahlers symphonies are universal symphonies, but this in particular which is my favorite, possibly has the greatest finale, I don't know what have this one, that once that you listen it, it changes your life completely, and always make me cry . My favorite is the Bernstein performance conducting the LSO. and also with the NYPO few years before Bernstein died.

@RhysScores Жыл бұрын
the only 5th piano concerto i’ve heard by “Rach” was just a fan made arrangement of his second symphony for piano and orchestra by Warenburg, but that isn’t really a Rachmaninoff concerto. I presume you either meant Prokofiev 5 or you made a typo? Thank you for the comment either way.
