There is absolutely NO justification for colorizing this movie. Zero. Zilch. Zippo. Idiots with computers and nothing constructive to busy themselves with!!

I love Hugh Marlow's voice. I think I watch this repeatedly to hear it. He, Gary Merrill and Joseph Cotton all had such dynamic voices. Radio was still king back then, that's all they had was their voices then. Such an odd change from silent movies with no voice, then radio hit nationwide and it was all voice and no visual. Voice actors from this period are skilled and talented actors.

I have never seen this movie however this may not have shown in Canada because I am at the same age as most of you I remember the twilight zone and Rod Serling. However I’ve barely watched very many of these movies I do remember watching the Day the Earth stood still

I remember watching this in the theater as a child. It was always in black and white. This is the first time I have seen it colorized and my brain is not processing it well. Yes it is well done but, these should be shown as they were originally. They had even more impact on young minds that had to "fill in the blanks" with imagination. The problem with movies of today is that that part of the equation has been removed. As with everyone else chiming in, the Day the Earth Stood Still is still one of my most favorite movies of all time. Along with Casablanca and others. LOL

At 9:45 there is a domestic slip-up. The new bride invites her career military dad over to dinner, but neglects to mention supper time. What is a military man to do? Such slip-ups, it must be said, can keep a film from attaining true cinematic greatness.

In some ways this film influences the Doctor Who story, with the Cybermen called the Invasion and also the Cybermen story the Moonbase which have the dreaded Cybermen using saucer shaped spaceships and also I wish in billions of ways I had been born in the 1950s when this film and the Day the Earth stood still .
