I have never worn any LOGOS and I love fashion and bags but I find anything with logo somehow kitschy... and it really looks a bit funny to me when i see that people who are not rich save for years for a dream bag and wear it next to H&M clothes or struggling financially. It is just silly to me :/ sorry all! Not to mention that people would think it is probably a fake..

If you have a definition for yourself you can never fall “prey “ so to speak. Be solid in who you are and you can’t be swayed by all these trends be it, logos, no logos, luxury, contemporary, quiet luxury. It will never make sense unless it makes sense to you. My thing is if you are not buying it for me you can’t tell me what I should wear or not wear.

Appreciate your review so much! I have now subscribed. You are so genuine and such an in depth review. So hard to trust many reviews but this has really given me a good feeling. I’m about to pull the trigger because of your review! :) I’m just wondering with the sunset medium -the front small external pocket - Could you please provide the length, depth, and height of it? Hope that’s no trouble :)

There’s a lot of great mid range bags now. Wandler, DeMellier, By Far, Staud, Copperni, A.P.C., Polene, Mansur Gavriel, Strathberry and many more. Many of them can be bought on sale or second hand for a fraction of the price. The quality and design is still there. I’ve always been able to find high end luxury bags at 1/4-1/8 of the price because I’ve been buying and selling luxury items since I was a teenager. Long before social media. But anyone paying over $2500 on a bag in this economy is crazy.

I think you are correct and people moving from consumerism. Consuming things based solely on what is advertised to you and many people don't understand luxury brands and how they operate. They are not actually for the middle class, buying one item for over $1,000. It's not for you, it's for the rich. That's $1,000, they making over 20k a month and they buy another next month.

You have gorgeous skin! I just had to say that! Caitlin Pawlowski (I might have spelled her last name wrong) got out of the designer bag influencer game a year or so ago and is now doing ... more social commentary type stuff. I never knew her as an influencer, but I absolutely love HER. Personally, I do the more 'mainstream' bags- Coach, kate spade, etc - but nothing with large logos. I HATE logos. Even if I were to buy say an LV bag... I wouldnt. The majority of it is (1) not my style and/or (2) covered in logos. nope. not for me.

Interesting take! Enjoyed watching this. I’m very particular about what luxury items I enjoy - ultimately we all should just responsibly indulge in what we love! I feel like a lot of this trend also started when Strathberry became popular too (which I do want to buy myself one at some point, I’m not knocking the brand)

I’ve enjoyed certain luxury items from time to time over the past decade… and what I’ve noticed is that I don’t need the label when it’s usually the “look” or silhouette that I’m attracted to in the first place. And not to mention overtime you begin to realize how impractical many over-hyped luxury pieces have been throughout this same decade. Once I noticed the things that I bought, never used, and later sold… I began to shop differently. And the LUST was gone as well.

Your channel is so refreshing. I’ve always loved fashion and understood it as a function of practicality and way of expressing your individuality. As you referenced in your other video, it feels like all the fashion content has been so consumer focused with people just buying bags to have them rather than for the love of them… or the practicality of them or to express themselves. Anyway, my point is, I love your approach and POV assessing bags for their uses! I’m currently shopping for my summer bag as well (island girl here so it’s always summer) and a lot of these are on my Pinterest board too. Keeping posting! ❤️

Ok, so I never watch that Nikki person but so many handbag KZfaqrs I do watch have commented on her video so I decided to watch it. Eek I could not even get through it. Very cringe and I can't exactly pinpoint why exactly other than the whole impression it gives off to me: it is overproduced, edited according to the content creator handbook to the nth degree, and that annoyingly constant background music majorly gives finance guru bro vibes. Worst of all is her earnest declarations about her journey 🙄. I definitely think that many of us are "consumered out" and looking to make more mindful, wiser financial choices but her video just feels like a different flavor of flex.

We had a decade of being "extra". It was just natural that the fashion industry would bring "minimal" at some point. Yes, some people changed, grew and evolved. But, in the end, it is the current trend. If it is all from personal reason, only time will tell. Once the minimalist trend is over, we will see who remains a minimalist and who will go back to the maximalist.

This was very interesting to listen to. Personally, it resonates with me when you say that you were exposed to designer brands at an early age. I come from a generation of women who don't do cheap stuff, period! My grandmother taught my mom to buy lasting items, and my mom passed it down to us. It wasn't about the trends; in fact, my mom detasted them. It's just about being sure of WHAT you want, and the why most times, to me doesn't matter. Those who know that know peace, and are not influenced by the Joneses😂😂

Exactly!!!!!! My family is Jamaican so we never did knock off, dupes, or any of that. It was the best or nothing! Kind of like “ we came too far and work too hard NOT to have the best. So yes it was never keeping up with the joneses but making ourselves proud! And I agree ! it is peaceful because we know the reasoning behind the purchase!! Loveeeee how you explained this!

Man, even Polene at $500-600 is too much for me these days. I hit the Coach outlet and pay no more than $100-150. I have a bunch of luxury bags in my collection that I still wear periodically. But I’m over that luxury phase and will not be shopping luxury again. More important things I rather spend my money on now. I’ve been shopping luxury for over 20 years. But it was just 1-2 item a year. In the past 10 years it has gotten ridiculous.

The most I have ever spent on a bag my ENTIRE life is $50. I never understood spending so much money on a literal bag. As long as the style expresses how I feel that day, I’m happy. My mother has some very nice bags she got over her life, but she is one of the smartest shoppers I know. Her closet is full of things that will be in style 100 years from now. You can have great style without the the “signifiers” we find so important like labels and perceived status. To me, that is the fun and art of fashion.❤

Great video. Just had a conversation with a friend about this very thing. I've noticed that so many influencers have the same items, shoes, bags, clothing, sunglasses, etc. There's a lack of individuality coming through that is concerning. My nightmare is walking into a room and seeing myself everywhere. I remember when I was into LV and ended up giving it away b/c LV was everywhere, authentic as well as knock-offs. The impetus for any purchase and spending your hard earned coin should be b/c you "like" it, period dot. Conspicuous consumption has never been a good look and uniqueness is a badge to be worn with honor.
@seabreeze4559
@seabreeze4559 2 ай бұрын
Anything unique is ripped off, locally then widely. It's memetic transmission in psychology, all trends are. I used to dress in the 2000s some of the ways that only became popular now or recently, back then was considered weird and too random (myspace era). I've been a trendsetter locally ever since I was a teenager and it got so bad that the narcissists copying me (from 'character trait acquisition') would literally copy entire outfits and try to gaslight me about it. They wanted to be this Manic Pixie Dreamgirl type and so copied the weirdo girl, me. It got so bad I had to practise the habit of buying something then keeping it in storage until it left the shops, so they couldn't copy me. Buying stuff on sale and the last of an item (I was poor) so they couldn't rush to the shops too, to "slum it" by looking like me, trying to seem 'authentic' but it was called keeping it real, ironically. They still tried to copy me and be fake, usually buying secondhand the same stuff. Nagging me about where I got it (very rude in England to even ask) or just finding it online by features like colour and cut, searching for hours. A similar thing is happening here and quiet luxury is just WASP fashion, we've always dressed like that. But a countersignal is still a status signal and nobody is superior for avoiding logos, it was a post-war thing where royals put away tiaras except for ceremonies because rationing kept going until the 50s. So they dressed like their Help, the Staff. Including tweed worn by farmers and gamekeepers, it is a pauper's fabric but Chanel lies, tons of marketing hype like the Burberry trench. The Chanel tweed is still British and always has been. People look so silly walking around London in farmer's fabrics thinking they look expensive. Claire Nakti had a great video about The Spiritual Reason Why People Copy You and apparently they want to steal our destiny so people assume WASPs are rich (untrue, royals just don't wanna look out of touch) and thinking if they dress like the Really Really Rich People (aristocrats, Mr Darcy types, the Bridgerton trend is NO coincidence!) then they will, by law of attraction, ALSO be wealthy. It doesn't work like that. We had the original capsule wardrobe because factory workers needed respectable clothes for Sunday Best. It was a religious thing, the P is for Protestant, not a flaunting thing like a countersignal is. These people are the new hipsters and it saddens us to see Americans hating on something that doesn't mean what internet people are saying, it was just modest for religious reasons. What a church would admit for entry. The internet especially punishes unique people and repackages us as Aesthetics, which are the opposite of personal style. They are subculture without the culture, pinterest niches that look like a thousand things but unite in nothing, no shared music or beliefs, it's hollow and empty and capitalistic, the opposite of the point. I don't post outfits online for that reason, never did. People still take photos of me in public without my consent and I've had to try to shout at them for it. Creepershots are a huge thing and some KZfaqrs post entire videos filming people in public in cities for their outfits. Style poachers I consider them. It should be banned because it 'disturbs the peace'. We don't consent to be in profiteering videos because we are standing in public going about our business but YT doesn't care about ethics. Any for-profit videos actually require a model release but Americans especially love those videos. Locals despise them and wish they'd be forced to stop. It kills creativity. Sorry for the rant.

I think they are all selling their handbags because in the last 5 years they have doubled in price. No awakening, no realisations, no living a simple life they are just selling them because chanel, Louis Vuitton especially have double the prices and the resale value is worth selling. None of these KZfaqrs are silly. They are selling the bags for profit and I don’t blame them it’s the right time to sell it for more then they brought it for originally.
