Got to be a better way to tie the shrouds. Looks like an hand accident waiting to happen. Trying to decide between the Feva and the Zest for an older adult and be able to recover from a capsize single handed.

Unfortunately the hull is way too heavy for girls and young sailors to pull up a beach. A real pity because the Optimist is a bathtub and the RS Aero is expensive and easily damaged by a teenager.

How long is the mast when disassembled? Is it two piece or one? Will it fit in a garage?

A couple of wide battens either side located with screws would reduce any concerns rolling around on a sandy beach with lift the gasket?

Stiffness is an indicator of the tendency for an element to return to its original form after being subjected to a force. Strength measures how much stress can be applied to an element before it deforms permanently or fractures. Hardening affects both as is demonstrated in the video the un heat treated material can be bent easily and it does no significantly return to its original shape, it is very mailable it bends but does not break. When heat treated it will not bend as easily and if enough force is applied it may actually break but the force required would be much greater. So it is both stiffer and stronger. Everything is a trade off.

Why did you stow the halyard in the port side pocket? It seems simpler and neater to stow it on the same side of the mast that it’s cleated on.

This is fantastic. Congratulations, everyone, from the athletes, to the trainers, the families and the engineers at RS whose efforts made this boat available. Chapeau!

I salute RS for their creating this boat. I’m sure they have invested more time and money into making a boat that lets people of all abilities to sail safely and with confidence than they will ever realize through sales. My organization purchased one, without any of the adaptive features, simply because it was a good choice for our older students who struggle to move with the agility needed to sail a small dinghy such as a Quest or Zest. I have to admit that the influence of the weighted keel is not sensed until the boat is heeled greatly, until then it feels like a dinghy. An excellent teaching platform. It is also by far the fastest boat in our squadron. Lots of fun.

Both the guys here are confusing stiffness with strength. Heat treating does not make a difference to stiffness (the distance a length of extrusion will deflect under a given load) but to strength (the amount of load which will cause the same item to develop a permanent bend)
