This seems to be the best method I have seen so far, I have some 3D printers and I printed some plastic foundation, however, it is not quick and is more expensive than buying it, although it worked just fine. I have seen some 3D printed embossing roller machines for embossing paper online, I think this could easily be converted for wax foundation usage, I will look into this. I enjoy making things for my own use and any saving of money is always welcome.

There is normally enough wax on the foundation and the bees will rebuild the comb. Timing is critical. If the bees are expanding in the spring and building comb it works well. If you put the frame back in any other time, they will clean it up and not build any comb.

Very nice! Comparing the same exact jar of honey with and without the wood lid do you get enough extra at the cash register to actually pay for your time, materials and equipment? A hexagonal lid would be good for those with arthritis. It’s a great looking item I just look at things from a cost versus reward standpoint.
@lesgold2132
@lesgold2132 4 ай бұрын
Thanks Ross. These honey jars are taken to the markets. I make a fancy swing tag label that contains all the required information and charge a premium for the product. People are quite prepared to pay for a nice jar that is well presented. My materials costs and labour are covered in that cost. As the lids are larger than the standard metal lid, they are very easy to remove which would be a real advantage for those with arthritis.

I'm finding smaller gold than that with the standard coil
@lesgold2132
@lesgold2132 4 ай бұрын
And you will too. The standard coil is great and will find tiny specs. The advantage of the 10x5 is that it will find small pieces at a depth that does not register when using the 11” coil. A lot of testing using live, undug targets over a period of time showed us the potential of the coil. It is actually surprising how much gold the standard coil will miss. To its credit, the 11” coil does have a depth advantage when the gold gets a little larger. Non of what I just said should be of any real surprise, it’s just the way it works when coil size and shape are altered. Good luck with your detecting. Hope you find a stack of monsters on your next trip out.

I can tell Archer ‘does’ honestly have the patience and interest to become a gold detectorist prospector, because many other kids would not. ~Also the slightly deeper Coiltek Goldhawk 9” round is getting close to the same sensitivity as the Goldhawk 10x5” which is better for tight areas between objects.

He was very patient and really did enjoy the day out. We are very proud of his enthusiasm and the way he was able to focus and search for those elusive pieces of gold. I have heard some good reports on the 9” round Goldhawk. Being a round coil with a slightly bigger footprint, I would expect good depth from it. I reckon it would work well in this type of situation.
