I homeschooled for about half a year and i couldn't take the work load of everything. Balancing 2 jobs and trying to teach was a nightmare. I'm debating on starting again this year but 1 of my problems is i have a hard time finding a good close homeschool community. We have to drive long distances and I'm tired of doing that. One of my children gave me such a hard time and took most of my time that i wasn't able to dedicate much time to my other child. I hope and pray I figure this out soon. I'm glad i found your channel 😊

Im in Arizona and no mandated assessments either. No fees. 5 required courses as well. What I’m working on now is applying for the monies available for HS’ers. I started January this year 3rd grader with Abeka. I was a PRN RN working 1-2 shifts up to 8 hours and running a home based business with clients. I like the video led aspect but they can be long. I facilitated the classes my grandson struggled with (newly diagnosed with ADHD which explains ALOT!!! But we did what we had to do to satisfy state requirement and the sacrifice part is true!!! I’m currently working 3 set days a week (8 guaranteed hours 🎉), continuing with a growing home based business, so I’m hoping to have work and business in a routine, so I can manage around for homeschooling. I’ve already purchased 4th grade curriculum from Abeka and giving it another try, but am already looking at maybe doing things differently for the 5th grade😅. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing! I started homeschooling my grandson in January of this year as a PRN Nurse and Home Business owner. It was challenging; however, I plan on continuing this year-grade 4. This video validated our 4 hour days! I will be started a PT position this summer-3 days per week 4am-noon. Gratefully, I have my parents next door and a daughter that moved back in after her sister (grandsons mom) got ill and unfortunately passed away, who helps with teaching. I really like your homework idea and will look for opportunities to utilize times when I/he/we am/are spent for him to do homework!

@@thathomeschoolingnurse I am using Abeka. He was diagnosed with ADD a month ago after presenting my concerns to his pediatrician, as it was very challenging keeping him on task, but yet he was retaining the information. We will see how it goes this year, I may have to scale back, as Abeka can be a bit overwhelming.

We've been homeschooling consistently since right before the pandemic..I haven't worked since before becoming pregnant with my first... but now I started overnights as an In Home Cargiver an hour away. I'm not sure how my marriage will fare nor how homeschooling will go, but thank you for this video.

Hello, I have a 4 year old and am pregnant with my second baby. I have thought about nursing school but I am worried about raising my kids (homeschooling) and making them the priority and then leaving for 13 hours. Are you exhausted during the day? I am always back and forth on if nursing is the right path or not and is what's best for my kids. Camille L. ❤
@thathomeschoolingnurse6 ай бұрын
Hi Camille! Thanks for your message. I’m grateful i have a lot of support close by. On my off days my parents do help. I sleep about 5-6 hours after each night shift that way I have most of the afternoon and evening with my kids. I know some colleagues aren’t able to function on that little sleep, but for me it’s never been a problem. The field of nursing is so wide that after the education you can create a work schedule that works for you. Per diem roles is something to consider as well…

I clicked subscribe so fast when I saw you were using Abeka AND then I saw Ms. Turner!!! 🥰 My youngest daughter homeschooled my grandson with this program during COVID (all 3 of my daughters went to a school that used the Abeka curriculum YEARS ago). My daughter passed away January of 2023 and I am my grandsons legal guardian. This year has been challenging for us both. I left my 6-figure Nurse Educator job to be more present in his life and I felt led to homeschool him, pulling him out of a charter school at Christmas break. I am praying to get a PRN night time position I have just applied for-no where near the 6-figures, but FULL of peace!! I look forward to watching your journey and will try and share mine from a hands-on G-Mom's POV.

Thank you so much for this video! I've been searching left and right to get inspiration for nurses who homeschool little ones. I mostly see advice from nurses who have older kids who are more independent. This is extremely helpful. Would you say it's possible for nursing school students to be able to homeschool?
@thathomeschoolingnurse9 ай бұрын
I am so glad that you found this video Helpful! It was a topic that I was also searching for when I started homeschooling young kids as a nightshift and Nurse. I am hoping that other nurses who also homeschool will find this video just as useful. I think going to nursing school and homeschooling is totally possible as long as you are not overwhelming yourself with having to work. I think that would be an almost impossible situation.
