Todd Gurley has been out of the league for two years and just turned 29. Ezekiel Elliott is a shell of himself, albeit serviceable, and he’s 29. Derrick Henry just turned 30 and the Titans let him walk. Joe Schoen has a job that requires five years of consistency (so long that he’s doing it competently). Saquon is a much improved blocker I don’t think he’s the receiver CMC Is but still above average when he’s locked in. He has an injury history and a lot of mileage and is still explosive but does look like he lost a step

Even if the Giants have a good season, even if they caught every single break, at best think they are no better than a wild card team that loses in the first round. They will come back next year and be a losing team. This is a team with a poor foundation.

What good is a 12.5 million dollar RB if you don't have an offensive line to block for him? With the money they would have paid Barkley they signed two proven offensive lineman to upgrade the offense and traded to get a top pass rusher. This is how you build rosters. You don't throw a bunch of money to an often injured RB that is aging. He's not the last link to a Superbowl run. This team had huge holes to fill and running back is a luxury in a passing league. They bolstered their line and drafted a future pro bowl receiver in Nabers. That's how you build a team in today's NFL.

Giants fans who still support Schoen and Daboll are doing do because the previous baseline was so low (Gettleman and previous head coaches were atrocious). But relative to the rest of the league, the two are still mediocre at best. Don’t forget what happened in 2022 - we had first round 7th pick and they picked Evan Neal when we could have gotten a number of other stars. Don’t forget Brock Purdy was Mr Irrelevant and we could have picked him with one of our later picks. Daboll is the alleged QB guru, but didn’t see the upside.
