I wonder if you could make an adjustment to this pattern to move the crotch join further back, flat seam it and not having the crotch reinforcement? I absolutely love the shape but I find regular crotch joins with the reinforcement piece uncomfortable

Would you add swimwear elastic to the swimsuit? (Bikini version) Next question is would you still make the bands and just put elastic inside of them?

the straps are part of the fold over elastic that encases the back/underarm seams, so you'd just fold the elastic in half and continue sewing all the way down along the strap lengths. they have another tutorial for how how to attach the straps/hardware

That’s so cute!! I always have issues with elastic in my leg bands being tight and uncomfortable, so love this design with just the binding❤ if I wanted to make the top more supportive, so you think you could line with powernet? :)

Just about to make this shirt but the size seems way off to me. I fall mainly into a medium but looking at the finished measurements there is 8 inches at the bust, 15 inches at the waist, hip not too bad at 6 inches as my hip size falls into the large. That seems a bit oversized to me, yet doesn't look that big on the models. Not sure whether to size down.

You are awesome Chelsea!!! Thank you for doing these cool tutorials and patterns and your cheerful spirit. I now have two Ilfords cut out...one in summer fabric and one in autumn fabric. xx Karen. Will be my first buttonholes in many decades. Will use the autumn one for travel. May try to put a zipper on one of them for safety.

Hi! Would you say this pattern is accessible for beginners?
@cvgsunset5844
@cvgsunset5844 16 күн бұрын
Hi! On the printed pattern cover on the website it says “confident beginner”- so it’s probably better suited for people who have made a few garments before. Imo, the button placket on the long sleeve might be tricky for a beginner, but you could still do the long sleeve and put on a normal cuff (without the placket)- or even put in elastic like in the Avenir Jumpsuit long sleeves. I don’t know if I’d recommend this as a first garment sew, but if it is your first garment and you’re determined, I say just take it one step at a time and take breaks. 😊 I also probably wouldn’t recommend making this as a beginner with slinky/silky/slippery fabric that will move around a lot on you- I think a more stable cotton would be the easiest to work with. (I mention this bc I’m currently sewing this with some more thin/slinky fabric than I’m used to and I have to be really careful lol.) I hope that’s helpful! 🫶

So excited for the surf suit pattern. I'm hoping to make both a rashguard and a sunshirt version. For hacks, it would be great to show how to add a simple one piece collar for sun protection on the neck. I'd also love a hack for a full zipper - then it could also be a thin jacket for morning walks this fall. Thanks for all the fabric suggestions.

Hi i have a question. Is it possible from 2 the same dress pants, that are too small, to create one pair ? Of course that would not look crazy . Please advise. I purchased quite expensive designer very coveted pants, that i cant return, and now found the exact pants also smaller size much cheaper. Got them also my alteration lady is very good, hope it can be done . Please tell me that it can be done 😂 Thank you kindly and have a blessed day🙏❤️

Not my first button up, but my first Friday Pattern! 🙌 Such a fun design!! Can I ask if the shoulder seam is meant to be a little dropped? It looks like it in the sample shots, but I notice your version here looks a little closer to the shoulder point. (I’m going ahead without adjusting because it think it will look great a little slouchy too, but just curious!) thanks for making a video with so many great tips! ❤

Thanks for your comment! It will depend on how broad your shoulders are but it isn't meant to be too slouchy. If you let me know what size you're making I'm happy to send you an across the shoulders finished garment measurement :)

I was going to do this in a drapier semi-sheer fabric and underline some key pieces. I wanted to do a french seam for the seams that need to be finished but all of those seams have a gathered piece of fabric associated in them. Any other finishes to recommend?

@@FridayPatternCompany What about the suggestion for a finish since French probably won't work because of the bulk from the gathers and the small S/A?

I love this shirt. Your explanations are excellent, Chelsea. I only had one yard of fabric, so I made it sleeveless (bound the armholes) and even had to use a different fabric for the inside back yoke. Looks so good, love it.
