Only just stumbled on Creaky Chair Models while trying to solve problems with CMRI, Laurance's explanation was really helpful and was looking forward to his other video's he was proposing Was upset to find out he had passed away, passing on my condolences to family, friends. A loss to the model railway / railroad community. R.I.P.

Good morning! Why don't you use multi-item creation when adding sensors, lights or other things to JMRI tables. I also had another question about your videos. Create a C/MRI connection, create nodes, create items in tables. I realized that you save properties and exit and enter JMRI. Did you notice any extra need to "give time" for JMRI to notice all these creations?

With your Tutorials I have successfully Consisted my Bachmann GP with MTH GP combined with my technique of Oval speedmatching(Thats running them in a perfect circle adjusting CVs on the fly until Top speed is 70mph, mid speed is scale 35mph and lastly 15mph) and Bingo! MTH Speed Matched with of all things my Bachmann SoundTraxx DCC. Here is a Demo Example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9p_epuAxLqmdJs.html NOTE I gave you a shout out and link to your tutorial(THIS tutorial) in my description because it was really brilliant. I hope it was ok sharing your video in the description as a critical step 1. Skeptics and MTH haters will not believe it. But Never say CAN'T... Great Video! It was a tremendous help!

I have 3 of those but to date, I haven't used them as yet. LOL I've been using Nano Terminal Adapter Shield Expansion Board Compatible with Arduino Nano V3.0 AVR ATMEGA328P-AU Module. The reason is with this one, it has screw terminals along both sides. It also makes life so much easier when developing. Also, the Nano Every board also fits in perfectly and is pin compatible. For the one in the video here, I think I may add the screw terminals as well. I just have to find the other 2. LOL

I have those also and use them. I prefer this one as it has 5 volts and ground and uses servo cables to interface. As they said in my naval career "whatever floats your boat" or Julie Andrews "what will be will be. In either case keep working on it!!!!!

Thank you very much for this excellent video and for the code. With the benefit of your detailed explanations and experience, I have managed to get by Mega/CMRI/JMRI setup working well. Below, shaung75 mentioned that credit for the code should go to Little Wicket Railway. Rob, from that channel, inspired me to have a go but I could not get his code to work for me. I am delighted that yours worked first time. I am next going to experiment with the addition of PCA9685 servo driver boards.

Larry, what is the RS485 and why is it necessary? I haven't seen this item in any other projects.
@LawrenceEggering
@LawrenceEggering 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, RS485 is a serial protocol wherein you can tie multiple devices to a single RS485 adapter. This is very versatile where you have multiple Arduino's connecting to JMRI. Otherwise, each device would have to have an individual serial port.
