Wonderfully practical and both honoring and respectful of others. I'd also suggest that if the person turns out to be a new comer, the usher might ask them where they would prefer to sit, and walk them to that place. The usher might also seek them out after the meeting if they remain for coffee, etc. and say hello to them again, introduce themselves, offer to get them a coffee, if they don't have one and ask if they can introduce them to someone (the person should be a mature Christian, capable of small talk moving into some thoughts...for instance 'that talk by the speaker (don't use churchy words) got me this morning...I hadn't thought that I could have God in my life at every point...' as an example. If your church has a formal new attendee system, you might guide them to a welcomer who only needs to intro themselves and ask if they've seen the connect card, and maybe mention a community focused event that is coming up, and give them a flyer. Nothing more.
