You are going way too fast and not getting nearly the workout you seem to believe. Ebikes are ridiculous and dangerous. We have been using trails daily for 25 years, as runners and regular bike cyclists. E-riders go WAY too fast on trails to be safe. Large, large numbers of them have not learned trail etiquette and drive in unsafe patterns (e.g., not going single file past a runner or, last night, us walking our cats in strollers -- when my husband was almost hit by an ebiker who couldn't be bothered to move behind his wife when riding past us). Plus the trails are much more crowded -- with essentially mopeds. If someone can't handle actual bike riding, then they shouldn't be on trails.
@richarddkearney2 ай бұрын
I'm going way to fast? I must have been going downhill. Normally i ride at 11mph and average about 9mph according to my GPS. I am getting a lot of exercise and I can tell my how much breathing I do and soreness on my legs. So I disagree with you on those to statements, but also the statement that bike are OK but ebikes are bad.
@user-zv3ex4gn3x2 ай бұрын
So I’m ridiculous and dangerous at 13.6 mph on a trike? I can’t walk more than 150 ft without my back collapsing, but you want to ban me from leaving my house. I guess you just hate older handicapped people. I pull over and stop for nearly everyone I meet on a trail, but I’m dangerous.
@refluxroadmap2 ай бұрын
@@user-zv3ex4gn3x the problem, as I've said, is that the MAJORITY of ebikers do not know or don't comply with unwritten and learned trail etiquette. And yes they are DANGEROUS just like mopeds and motorcycles. I have no issue with providing those with disabilities displayed passes on their bikes, as the only exception, with a 12-15 mph speed limit depending on where they are located. And we don't hate older people. We are older. We hate that they don't just RIDE A REGULAR BIKE. And don't kid yourself -- if you think you're obtaining fitness, you are not.
@refluxroadmap2 ай бұрын
And the issue isn't whether you are friendly. The issue is whether these bikes create danger and they do. That's it. I hate them and I am working to get them banned everywhere possible. Those with disabilities (which, by the way, both my husband and I have BOTH have disabilities that we have worked to overcome and somewhat live with) can get exceptions with very low speed limits. The issue is the speed of most of these bikes. If they sold them with a cap on the speed, which they do not, then I would have no issue with them.
@refluxroadmap2 ай бұрын
@@richarddkearney and if you really only ride at 13.6 then you should not be opposed to a law banning the sale of any ebike that is capable of going faster than 15 mph (which is still faster than most leisurely cyclists maintain, and which much slower cyclists were previously the majority of bikers on trails). If you care about safety, then that kind of ban should not bother you.

Her name is Lorraine Day. Lorraine just died this past November 2023 at 86 years of age. She made videos (VHS tapes) where she talks about her cancer. One of them is called "Diseases Don't Just Happen!". I don't know if these are still available or not; I have made digital copies for myself. Good to hear more of your mechanical stories, LOL.

About 2 years ago, I started limiting my intake of processed foods due to its inflammation tendencies. I had a few exceptions like seed breads and peanut butter, but most processed foods were no longer on my diet. In January of this year I started limiting my carbs, so potatoes and breads were eliminated from my daily diet. I didn't realize how many things i ate had lots of carbs until I started restricting carb intake. I didn't eliminate carbs because that would be tough, but limited to less than 30grams a day. There are so many different ways to eat and there are books on a lot of those ways claiming all sorts of health benefits so I just picked something that had some "independent" research that seemed like something I could do. Hopefully, I won't have to go through radiation next. In the meantime, I'm searching for my next trail to conquer on my ebike!

Glad to see you back in the saddle again. I was getting curious and worried about your absence. My bike is a twin of yours and two Saturdays ago the battery on/off switch failed. I have 4700+ miles on it and have got it set up to where I really love the way it fits my needs. The day it failed was 2 yrs and 4 days from my purchase date from an Aventon dealer. I called the customer support number and got a really kind, understanding, and helpful guy (Matthew Clem) who put in an order for a replacement under warranty! The problem is that batteries are on backorder and the ETA is not available because they are on a ship that is set to be in port "soon" and will need to be offloaded and distributed. (I'm hoping the port wasn't Baltimore). So until then, I'm back to riding my acoustic bike which is not going so hot. There is a darn good reason why I love my bike (do I sound like PeeWee Herman?) and in sending a follow-up query re; an ETA to Matthew has not resulted in a better answer. So I am envious and living vicariously watching your video. They keep advertising free spare batteries with the purchase of a new bike. Why can't they supply one to an existing customer? It's a well established fact that it costs much more to get a new customer than it does to retain one. You would think..... Thanks! Keep 'em coming!
