How are you doing? What is new? How are things going?

Hi Ian, Thanks for your video, your teaching is concise, clear, and being clarity. Overall is pretty helpful to ESL. I think I don't understand Canadian mindset, that is why I could not make a sentence like you do, a significant point is what word set I should select from when I make a sentence by myself, I knew there would be a word list in your mind for making a sentence, in my opinion, I have to copy any sentence from native speaker, otherwise a sentence that I make can not be understood by native speaker.

We have 6 people in our home. Me, my husband our 2 sons (24 and 20) and my great niece and nephew (14 and 12) we have lived in SW Ontario for 27 years. Up until Covid we spent $700 a month on groceries, this included pet food for 1 dog and 3 cats as well as litter and treats for them. I also include toiletries, cleaners, garbage bags and food wraps. For the last 2 years our rent has doubled and our grocery budget has jumped to $1500 plus. I have not changed what I have purchased, but I am currently revamping my budget especially the food budget. We currently own a smaller freezer, we spoke about this and decided we are getting a second larger freezer as well as a second fridge to put in his shop. This will help us freezer more baked items, vegetables from the garden we are working on, meats when on sale cheeses when on sale etc. We have converted our linen closet (which is right outside our kitchen) into a small pantry as we do not have a lot of cupboard space. We do have an extra closet in our living room which I am turning into a back up pantry to store toilet paper, paper towel, garbage bags, pet supplies etc when they are on sale. My husband is going to install shelving in it as well, to store the canned items. We plan to go to farmers roadside stands to get better deals on fruits and vegetables and I am learning how to can this year. My younger son is starting to make sourdough, and I am making homemade bread. We are also dehydrating some foods and searching for copycat recipes, cooking from scratch recipes and bulk recipes. I'm also doing some crockpot dump bags and making my own cake, cookies, and muffin mixes. When I make lasagna, stews, soups, spaghetti sauce I always make enough for 2 dinners and freeze one. We are doing more cooking and baking from scratch. We allow ourselves 1 takeout meal every other month as it ends up costing us between $70-$100 for one meal. Basically we are doing everything we can to cut costs on groceries, electricity, water, and any other variable expense we have. The grocery budget is the one that will make the biggest difference as we are determined to bring it down to $700 a month for the 6 of us. This will allow us to be able to help my nephews when they need food. They are having a hard time getting food for themselves so anything I can do to help them I do. If anyone has more ideas please share. 😀

Hi @robertgitau. You'll have to do the test after arriving in Canada. Check out this page for information on testing centres that you can contact in your province: www.language.ca/resourcesexpertise/for-language-learners/#1473771803983-0f2b7a24-0d0f

Is this test is easy
@RightStartNewcomerServicesАй бұрын
The test is not really easy or difficult. Some parts are easy but it gets harder as you go through it. It is supposed to measure your English level up to a certain level. If you have high English abilities (above CLB 8) you may find the test to be easy. Good luck!
