what tuning is jimi in here? I've heard his check before the song and it seems lower than e flat? somewhere in between e flat and d standard is my guess idk? I'm having to shift everything here a half step up clearly when I'm in e flat, but I still think jimi is lower?

I'm a longtime player (late bloomer) really working on getting my rhythm rock solid. I'm interested to know why you chose those patterns.

Good question! I just wanted an assortment of simple rhythms that were all a bit different from one another so that the learner is able to switch it up while maintaining the beat and the "pendulum" technique...

My knowledge of Angus Young's style over the years is that he doesn't know how to read music and so I'd guess (like EVH) he is using modes but doesn't know it....plays by ear - what sounds good!
@PowMusicКүн бұрын
You probably know more than me about that, but I'll say that there is no correlation between a guitarist's reading ability, and their understanding of theory, scales, patterns, intervals, etc. Reading is just being able to decode the dots on the staff...many readers actually don't have much theory knowledge or good ears at all...and vice versa...

I recently had surgery on my left arm and these exercises will be helpful when I'll be back on the strings. Problem is that the sound is so much better when you strike hard with the right hand, better than any compressor, better than any overdrive 😅

I just discovered the relationships between shapes, transitions, and the connections between song scales (and chords) and soloing. This lesson really pulled everything together and gave me a solid foundation for practicing. Thank you, Garry, for not hiding precious knowledge behind reinvented titles and advertisement of "magical guitar methods"! I would pay only for this 18 minutes lesson!

Angus is one very first rock guitarist should study . I think it’s sort of fun when people make fun of pentatonic scales. Angus young has done that for 50 years and played infront of millions of people.

@ranman586355 күн бұрын
I hope you figured out why you kept breaking strings? I have several thoughts. String size, tremolo issues, and scale length. All play a huge role in those types of playing. And he broke many too and what was cool was seeing him wind a new high E in thr middle of a gig.
@PowMusic4 күн бұрын
Good points! I think scale length might be the biggest factor for sure - the string kept breaking at the fret / never at the bridge
@ranman586354 күн бұрын
@@PowMusic , yup, that's why epiphone does 24.75. The shorter the scale the more bendy. Squier has has 24 and so does fender duo sonic.

POW MUSIC, You should LAYER both the Major Pentatonic Boxes over the Minor Pentatonic Boxes to do lesson for SRV Rivera Paradise Austin City Limits SOLO Lesson, Pink Floyd Comfortable Numb first SOLO#1 uses relative minor mode relative major mode, Hotel California Solo, Sweet Home Alabama solo switches from relative minor to relative major mode really good example of switches modes to make a lesson about.
