I picked Tommy up a few times from Jesmond on a Sunday afternoon in my Taxi 20 odd years ago,I told him my fav memory of him was when he scored that volley against QPR. He couldn’t remember it. 🤔

I heard the reporter (Ron Pickering?) he mentioned Jochen Mass pulling out. Sensible decision the man would need his Porsche 935 to get off the line and have a chance against these ‘physical’ athletes. Racing drivers of 50 years ago were not the polished super fit athletes you see these days. They were lucky to live the see the end of any motor race in that deadly era never mind keeping fit for a lifetime of motor racing 😂

All i would add, one way or the other is that sportscars of that age (i.e Porsche 935) were extremely difficult to drive fast and he was driving (and winning) for at least 3 hours or half a Le Mans - I'd say Mass was pretty fit.........

I'm fine with female commentators, there are plenty of crap male commentators so it's good to have a breath of fresh air, but Vicky Sparks is just very poor. I've listened to games with her commentary and had no idea what was happening on the pitch. And she shouts, shouting isn't commentary.
