I just bought one like this. It's beautiful, well balanced and very sharp knife.

I just bought this because I love my Takamura SG2 210mm Gyuto so much. They're the best two knives I've ever owned.

Just picked this knife up from you guys. Amazing blade! I can really see why people recommend Shiro Kamo so often. I absolutely love the height it has. Definitely more on the laser side of things. Still has enough heft to it, so you know it doesn't need to be babied. Will do a full review after I put it through its paces. Thanks for putting these videos out as it really helped me make my final decision.

That lanyard is meant to be used a different way. It goes over the thumb, around the back or the hand, and back to where it is attached to the handle. Nice looking axe

Those "hammer" marks were obviously put on a completed knife blank before they put an edge on it. Not forged.

It really depends on where the grind lines are going. If it’s a horizontal grind then go in that direction AND ONLY THAT DIRECTION. DO NOT GO BACK AND FORTH ON YOUR KNIFE LIKE THIS… LIKE THIS KIND AND IM SURE WELL MEANING GENTLEMAN DID. IT WILL CREATE LITTLE PIN WHEELS ON EACH LINE AND SCREW UP YOUR FINISH.

Nice knife. Am considering picking one up. I did notice that the cladding rides higher on the right side than the left. Any idea why that is? Is it because this is not a 50:50 grind?

Have you received any SPG Strix steel knives yet?
@trevorgerland22542 ай бұрын
I just purchased this knife from CKTG! First off, wow, this knife is amazing feeling in the hands. Perfectly balanced and feels weighty but nimble in hand. The thickness of the knife right before it goes into the handle actually helps with the balance/feel. The tip and grind are amazing considering, to the eye, the “thickness” of the knife. After one onion the blade started to patina the next day. It’s just a super unique knife. I love to push/pull cut, so this flatter blade profile is perfect for me. At 6.35oz, this knife is heavier than my Takeda 250mm (5.8oz) and my Moritaka KS 250mm (6.15oz). All blades share the same flat blade profile. Takeda still has the most amazing thin tip, but the Moritaka and this Snapou tip’s are still amazing and thin in their own right. After receiving this knife and taking it out of the box, I was instantly tempted to order the 210mm version because that knife has to feel equally as great in hand with a totally different feel. But, this knife at 240mm (mine is 243mm) doubles as a suji/slicer and Gyuto/chefs knife. I love tall knives (reference a 250mm “Medium” Takeda Gyuto and see what 60+mm of blade can look/feel like) and this at 40mm fits my big XL hands very well. Only drawback is not being able to scoop an entire 1/2 or a medium sized onion with one scoop. Otherwise, this is just a great knife. You’ll be surprised how great it feels in hand!

Best knife I own.. and I have alot of "higher quality" knives according to price. These are hands down the best all around considering the price and performance.. instead of buying one expensive knife buy 2 of these

Gorgeous Knife. More and more impressed with Nakagawa’s beautiful work. An absolute must watch blacksmith as he is putting out some amazing work at such a young age. That said mine is completely and perfectly balanced at the pinch grip.

Gotta love a sanmai of blue and steel. The balance has to be done right to end up not warping. Blue is an incredible edge when done right. I used to do these with a differential temper. Springy spine/hardest edge within reason. I also used to do these with wrought iron and O2 with a nickel layer in between. Man, i miss knifemaking. 😢

Wow, I didn’t realize there was a good stainless core that had decent retention. This would make a nice gift for someone who doesn’t want to do much knife care other than putting it away after use.

That’s gorgeous! I can’t find knifes like these anywhere; the language barrier stops discovering good blacksmithing. If you know about the fixed blade Higonokami that Nagao did that’s the vibe I’m into 😊
