Alexandra, I’ve just bought a Saxophone and know nothing about music symbols? Can you explain the very basics of the music sheet because me and many others don’t even know the basics…. . ? Moreover, what does the Star sign mean on top of the notes mean? I can’t find any information regarding this symbol…..Thank you and keep up the good work.
@chimneydriptray243917 күн бұрын
Does anyone know what the star symbols above each note represent? And what octave key he is pressing because he’s going far too quick for me to follow? It would appear hes pressing a key low down and not the octave key above????? Very frustrating to watch.

You just learn how to read music score. And you can play most of music/song. Of course, to get good sound, you need practice.

I've been playing saxophone for 34 years. I often use the low C/C# with the octave key to play middle C/C#. (I do the same with Bb/B but less frequently because pinkies). I have found this to be a very useful fingering. I also use the side C and regular C frequently, but when you're playing fast, you need to reduce flip-flopping, while being efficient with your fingers. Personal opinion: this fingering gives the middle C/C# a fuller sound, it is more in tune (especially C#), moves faster between C/C3 and upper middle register notes, gives me another alternative to reduce flip-flop. These traits are consistent across alto, tenor and bari. In my 34 years, I'm the only I know who uses it. Have you ever used it/taught it?

What can be a reason for low C# not working? The key opens, but no change in sound between C and C#. Thank you.

Bro, the thing with these sax tuts are that you speak something logical and then you show an amalgamation of metal and expect ppl to just understand what is happening. My brain is imploding looking at all that metal going every which way. BRO I NEED HELP

@@SaxophoneMasterclass oh, I see, sorry I've just started learning the saxophone and I'm quite confused by this, how do I play a normal F# like it sounds on the piano? is it called a G flat or something else?
