Would you recommend a particular model of paceman that would possibly be the more reliable one. Im based in the uk
@tweedbean4 күн бұрын
Hi the second generation just like any other car has its weaknesses. Good service history is a good indicator. I’m sure all engines that came in them has some sort of weakness as do all engines. I would go for any model that has a good service history and low miles. The n14 issues are well document but can be reliable with regular maintenance. The SD again had its issues but a good service history again and ensuring timing chain has been done

Did you lower the switches and there for lose the cup holders?
@tweedbean11 күн бұрын
Yes it drops the switches. Those cup holders are so tiny and pointless compared to modern day drink bottles/cups. There’s the one behind the handbrake or if you are stationary, two in the glove box. Finally you can get aftermarket cup holder extenders for the front r53 cup holders, I’ve not used those but they look like they would work with this setup giving you two front cup holders, so I've ordered one to try: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1563048481/

No worries, the only thing I’m stuck on is where did you splice in the steering controls, I know you showed the diagram but do you need to splice those ‘key 1’ wires into the car loom?
@tweedbean11 күн бұрын
@Phillc748 it all depends on which brand aftermarket stereo you have. For Sony I didn’t need to splice any wires, I literally just connected to the main block. There are tonnes of videos on KZfaq on how to use the “CTMULTILEAD.2 Universal Patch Lead” if you use something different to Sony. They also do versions of this lead specific to your headunit brand

Love your enthusiasm for the project 🙂 Not sure i'd want to have ride height like the lowest position on UK roads 🙂 What happens if you get a problem in the air system BTW, do you end up at lowest ride height? Asking as a mate had an airbag fail on his 5 series BM and it dropped it to bottom hieght....
@tweedbean21 күн бұрын
LOL mine wouldnt even move on the lowest setting, its sat on the arch liners at that point and on the floor with the bumper/side skirts. All depends where you get the issue, if one bag fails the car will stay pretty level due to the other 3 corners, it would only be if lets say you lowered all 4 corners then your tank or pump broke, you could be stranded. I have air on 2 of 5 cars so I could always steel a pump or management if I ever had a failure but its rare, same as if you snap a spring on stock suspension, that would strand you too
@theoutsider619121 күн бұрын
@@tweedbean Yeah i hear you. Had a coil spring go on my BM a while ago. Could limp along real slow to garage at the end of the street. But dropped ride height a bit to the point where getting on the recovery truck snagged the front splitter and cracked it a bit.

An interesting solution for all type of road conditions... Mine had Bilstein lowering springs on Koni Yellows and -1 Toyo Proxes RA1 track tires (on 1st Gen Team Dynamics) when acquired, which didn't suit my local streets and highways. Now with same OEM JCW Sport Suspension springs you're removing in combo with +1 Mich PS4S tires, I'm quite satisfied. In any case, pleased that you're storing away the OEM GP bits while also avoiding cutting any interior carpeting, panels, etc. Good job! I'll continue to monitor for future updates.
