I have a HO scale garden railway that is a small fraction of yours. I run my engines with battery power using radio control. It works good. I used some old tyco track that is rusty, and it looks prototypical (although my RR is the farthest thing from modeling anything in real life) Track maintenance involves a garden hose.

Do those station signs actually work to announce the trains?

No, they are only designed to show destinations. Surprisingly, the process was extremely easy. Sound effects will require some other technology.

Bro! Can you still open and close that garage door? if yes, then my mind is blown! I love the SP Daylight. I have one somewhere in my garage. Did you have to order special HO Tracks for outdoors? Great Video!
@blakrootz26 күн бұрын
Yes. My wife and I park both cars in the garage and use it quite frequently. No, I use Peco Code 100 Nickel Silver track. Here is a video when i had to repair the garage door portion of the layout. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9Npg8aUs8zLaGg.htmlsi=tBhFvrrykh2hVprZ

Great video! I am a new follower for your channel. I have been building an HO Subway in my head for about 15 years now. Watching your videos has given me the push I needed to go buy some material to get started. Thank you! What did you use for the platform? You mentioned the tile, but what is under? is it that foam or wood?
@blakrootz27 күн бұрын
The entire station and platform is made of wood. On top of the platform is peel and stick adhesive floor tile. Home Depot has plenty of free samples for you to choose, which you may like. I had to choose between two and found one fairly similar to that of the flooring at Embarcadero BART Station. I eventually bought a pack and then cut it to size with a band saw. If you don't have that, you can use scissors, but it will be a bit difficult. Please keep me posted on your progress and be sure to see video one of this project of how I began. The link is in the description. Thanks for the support and subscribing. 👌🏾👍🏾😁

2 things great with outdoor railroading, long trains & big curves. Do your neighbors say something (complain) about the noise (sounds)? Some times mind do, but most the time their grandkids are enjoying the trains. I run On30 & F (1:20.3) scale, my HOs are run on a club layout. I have Challengers steam.

Good morning, I have enjoyed your videos. I was wondering what kind of tracks are you using for your outdoor train set? I live In AZ and I just figured no time like the present to start mines but just need to know what tracks so I don’t have to continue to replace tracks all the time
@blakrootzАй бұрын
Peco Code 100 Nickel Silver Concrete Track. I know the weather is a bit different in AZ, so I would advise a test track outside to test the elements. I waited a year before creating mine. I nailed a piece of track to pressure treated wood and let it sit outside to see how it stands in sun, rain, fog, and hail. I don't get snow here, but every once in a blue, I will get frost from 34-degree weather. It did just fine...as for heat, I can get like the high 90s. Be sure to see my cleaning videos to help. Thanks for viewing and I look forward to seeing your work. I will subscribe to your page now.

Stunning! Candlestick is exactly how it appears after they installed ramps and elevators (but too small). Been going there since 1968. Yes saw them all and saw Willies amazing catch with Bonds. 2 year ago my son did x-rays on Mr. Mays sadly he was in bad shape, but he acknowledged my son's admiration and respect by squeezing his hand. What ya going model next, Bay Bridge in the days of lower deck being for trains? I would not be surprised you got the talent! When young that used to exite me from the Oakland side where I once again reside.

How well have your trains held up to UV exposure? Does the plastic become brittle? Do colors fade after a while?
@blakrootz2 ай бұрын
So far, so well. It doesn't get that hot out here and I always bring my trains in the house after each run/trip...even if it is to take a break. Mostly so they don't get pooped on by birds.
