I have had a different experience it seems. The watch community has been nothing but welcoming to me. More of a sub genre as I’m repairing watches instead of reviewing. As any niche grows you’ll have insecure and immature people joining it. To some, watches aren’t a flex they are a passion.

Considering the most popular watch tuber makes hateful videos about Hublot (going so far as to physically destroy a perfectly good one), I 100% agrees with your assessment of the insecurity of this niche. There is no balance to many of these people. I really appreciate your perspective. Subscribed and best of luck to you.

Why would you take the Internet seriously? Would you take a stranger seriously on the street? Your language that you use to describe things is extremely feminine. Describing how everything's are unfair is something a woman would say or a child. You will not survive in the real world if you're this deeply naive about people and things. Also do not let your environment have such a effect on your emotional well-being.

When making content I think you should always ask yourself "what is this contributing to my channel" and unfortunately crying and whining just makes you look sad. EVERY youtuber gets these kinds of comments but the good ones have learned there is no value in acknowledging them nor calling them out publicly. There is only a downside. Good luck to you.

It’s partly racism, the watch community has a lot of deep racism - go on any luxury watch forum. That attitude trickles down. But then it’s just the internet - people are vile, teenagers etc mainly but grown adults too. Also people tend to stop looking at “content creators” as real people. And I often see that out of pocket comment as the straw that broke the camels back. Person A may hate the moonswatch, but it’s popular and the algorithm keeps showing them that watch, and finally they just snap and have to say something, and it just happened to be on your video. Sad, but social media is a poison and overall horrible thing

There was one time when I commented on a $1,000 Christopher Ward commercial that 'this was my grail'. And then I get a reply saying that 'CW is NOT a grail watch!' Like seriously? That comment frustrated me so much, because spending that kind of money on a non-essential item felt impossible at the time. What I've learned is that even if you have a $100k watch, it'll be a 'cheaper alternative' to the $300k watch and so on. So, ignore them. But honestly, I have met more good people in the watch space than negative people. A lot of folk throw random negative comments and then move on with their day. So why should we get so impacted by them. Being in the watch world is a journey and opinions change all the time. Today you might love Seiko more than Tissot and tomorrow it could be the other way around. And literally no one's gonna give a shit. It's all about how you feel about the brand. Like you said, it is such a personal and subjective hobby. Why take it so seriously?? And I think its different from things like cameras etc. because the loyalty and emotional connections that people feel with watch brands can become blinding, whereas most cameras are just an extension of your creativity. And the racist stuff, we're seeing racism on full blast everywhere. Open racism. Any financial or political issues happen to a country, the blame automatically goes to 'people that don't look like us'. It's been happening for centuries and it still hasn't changed today. Sorry you had to go through that. Those people are just miserable and I pray to God that they become better human beings. Hope you find good people around you man. Keep at it! 🙌

The world is a cruel place. No doubt about that. Still, for a youtuber who makes content using one's personal opinion, you should have a better understanding of personal opinion than others. You can say whatever you want but so can others. It is a right. Lets celebrate it. I recall an old film in which one of the main cast was an African descent. In it, he described how he was frequently subjected to racial attacks but had learned to deal with it from knowing he had a bigger D.

As someone with opinions on watches, it is nearly impossible for content creators not to attract the nasty, snobbish, unsolicited responses of some viewers. I have received a lot of hateful comments myself on my own channel from strangers who couldn't pass up an opportunity to be condescending. My point here is that it just comes with the territory. I'm sorry for all of the hate you have received from these keyboard warriors. They are indeed jealous, insecure, pathetic individuals who can't share in the joy of others. @watcheswithkym 4 күн бұрын
Don’t think you watched the full video: 1: yes it’s common, that doesn’t mean I need to be happy with it. 2. Expecting camaraderie is not the same as not wanting racist comments over watch opinions (like…it would be one thing if I received racist comments while openly discussing political / controversial / racial topics, but I don’t) 3. Funny is subjective, being racist or rude for no reason isn’t funny to ME. 4. I don’t think I should be made to stay away from potentially positive feedback just because there are people out there who enjoy seeing people fall. Like I said, I can’t this comment personally because if you watched the video and really listened to what I was saying, I don’t think you would’ve said the above things. Thank you for your time 👍🏾

There are 2 types of watch enthusiasts: type 1 is the buy what you like, watches are not a necessity and it’s a journey since tastes/income/styles all change. Type 2 is the ones who think they know everything about watches and their opinions are the only valid ones. If you don’t know what they do or like what they do, you’re wrong. Definitely agree with you that the watch community is toxic. Try to not let it get to you, you have to have thick skin and be able to brush off the hate not taking it personal to be a content creator and not go crazy. These people being raciest would never say it in person. People hating on the watches either can’t afford them or can’t accept a difference in opinion and aren’t true watch enthusiasts. They’re only “hard” on the internet hiding behind a keyboard. Similar to what the other commenter speaking on unhappy people said my mom taught me that hurt people try to hurt people. No one happy with themselves goes out of their way to hate and be nasty.
@watcheswithkym
@watcheswithkym 4 күн бұрын
@@spencer5280_ that last sentence is literally what I keep saying! Whether you’re positive or negative, you’re naturally inclined to spread it wherever you go. @watcheswithkym
@watcheswithkym 20 күн бұрын
@@williamsilver3088 nice! I think it really depends on what you value more, variety or one quality piece. I was looking at a Seiko presage myself and what turned me off was how thick it was. For that reason, I knew that spending 400 on a watch I wasn’t fully excited by wouldn’t make sense for me, so I ended up buying two other watches under 400 that were better for me. I wear suits and tracksuits and smart casual, so my collection is based on switching it up a lot, whereas if you have a corporate job and just want a watch to match that same suit everyday, my collection would probably reflect that. Hope this helps!
