Looks like you have a red shade cloth in the propagation house. Any reason why it’s red and not black?

I expect there is some reason for pruning a tree so that most of the growth is on one side (lopsided). Can't imagine what it is though.

I wouldn’t do that, that way…IMO of course 😳

Please do not do this to your japanese maple. This tree did not need to be pruned at all.

I live in the middle of europe. What time of the year is the right time to prune bigger branches on a japanese maple?

How to ruin a Japanese maple tree? Incomplete video of a man using a saw to unbalance a tree. No sensible shaping at all.

At 1:07 he shows that they intend to plant this tree sideways like that. So he wants to cut off the horizontal branch now. This way it serves two purpose. One to educate on how to cut a large branch off. And second to show how you can plant a tree sideways. Good video.

(i'm no plant expert) Why do people graft? Can't we just continue to grow these "Seedlings?" to grow into mature plant maple?

Grafting usually allows for more flexibility when designing a bonsai i suppose. it allows you to create a branch at any point making you able to place the branches and have them already somewhat grown. since i'm still quite new to bonsai i don't fully understand the concept but i've even seen people graft young maples to the base of a sizeable bonsai to create a new nebari.

What kind of soil do I need to put in my pot for my Japanese maple tree seedlings?
