I travelled to Greece in 2009 and going to Nashville next week. I’m looking forward to seeing how close they got in scale of the original in Athens

Andrew Jackson was in the Valeary Plantation Attick with a telescope observing the British fleet making a staging area in a marsh in Lake Pontchartrain. In addition he declared Marshall Law and paid both white and blacks equal pay to dig a 12 foot high dirt wall reinforced with cotton bale's sunk in mud to harden them. They also dug a moat the British attempted to scale with ladder's just for that purpose. Plus the help of the Barrataria Pirates who had the flints Jackson's riflemen desperately needed in addition to a small ship outfitted with a cannon and had cannon balls and ammunition stored all over the city. Volenteers from Tennessee answered Jackson's plea for backwoods marksman with deadly aim from hunting since boys.

That's the reason Tennessee is known as the Volunteer State.
