how come psychologists don't know that? I went to see someone and they judged me because I was too emotional for her... my son had disappeared and I thought he was dead, I have PTSD but they didn't understand why my emotions were so out of hand, I couldn't manage myself at all, it was too much for me after more than a decade of violence. We receive more judgements than help in the psych filed these days.

I cried tears of grief straight away. Grief for the safe people who were never there when i was growing up, grief of never being held when i was upset and confused as a little girl. Grief that I've ignored my body for 50 years or to give it the love and respect it deserves. This was satisfying

The Google reviews of this Clinic are very mixed. Many terrible reviews that some people were more traumatised by the staff there than before they went there. Just be careful if you choose a trauma retreat to research it properly so you know what to expect. You don't want to be retraumatised by a trauma treatment centre.

Your body and your system need to learn, not just that the event is over, but that it's not going to happen again.

Thanks so much for this series! I'm gonna listen to it over again. I was familiar with IFS before I listened to this. I wanted to comment that initially the reaction to parts can be skeptical or trepidatious. But when one does it a couple of times it starts to flow and become more natural. It's pretty amazing. It's can also be, that the thought is scary that we are all these parts. But it becomes freeing as one does it more. At least for me at has worked that way. It like before If I have had a bad feeling reaction to something I would just try to deal with the feeling. But now I think "are you a part". And as it becomes more fleshed out as having a life of it's own....it actually starts to feel less stressful and more spacious inside. It's all very fascinating:))

Look up ACA 12 step recovery for traumatised adults of dysfunctional parents. Reparenting your inner child is the answer. Takes many years but an excellent programme, I'm doing it myself. 2 Narcissistic parents

You can heal and change the out come. You learn to regulate you're nervous system. Then you've learn a new tool to teach your children. It's a process, but so is life. So, babysteps for a better future for yourself then your future generations.

BC Wommen's counsellors are taught 3 staged treatment starting with ecucation on the biological- psychological aspects with tools taught to calm the body and then once they can manage their triggering to some degree then we can start working with active reactivity barriers, then they'll be able to go deeper when they feel SAFE. Beautiful man and beautiful approach.

Bessel van der Kolk's work focuses on trauma and stress recovery. To calm your emotional system based on his theories, try these techniques: 1. Deep breathing exercises: Slow, deliberate breaths can help regulate your nervous system. 2. Mindfulness meditation: Focus on the present moment, without judgment, to reduce stress and increase self-awareness. 3. Yoga and movement: Gentle stretches and movements can help release tension and promote relaxation. 4. Grounding techniques: Use your senses to connect with the present moment, such as focusing on your feet on the ground or the sounds around you. 5. Self-compassion: Practice kindness and understanding towards yourself, just as you would towards a friend. 6. Creative expression: Engage in creative activities like art, music, or writing to process emotions. 7. Social connection: Reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or therapist for support. 8. Body scan: Lie down or sit comfortably, and bring awareness to each body part, releasing tension as you go. 9. Nature therapy: Spend time in nature to promote relaxation and feelings of safety. 10. Somatic experiencing: Pay attention to your body's physical sensations, allowing them to arise and pass without judgment. Remember, everyone's experience is unique, and it's essential to work with a mental health professional if you're struggling with trauma or stress. These techniques are meant to complement professional help, not replace it.

If we want a different life, we have to be willing to do something differently. We have to take risks that make us uncomfortable. Start by attending church. NOT for the people but to meet the savior who can change us from the inside out. Once we begin to change and become spiritually, healthier, we naturally attract healthier people

The PCPs BLOCK MINORITIES communication regarding trauma caused by the regime THEFTS OF MINORITIES HOMES AND EARNINGS. Bank of America HAS BEEN ENDORSED TO DESTROY US‼️ . They are well organized to cover the racist crimes of the Democrats STEALING OUR HOMES TO ENRICH THEIR BLOODY POCKETS. Hi Licia! I've been trying to leave you a message since meeting and working with you at bishops ranch in CA. I loved your work so much. The "heart sandwich" was one of the most memorable and wonderful parts of the retreat. I would love to continue to be in contact and learn from you. I will certainly use your heart sandwich in my groups, and attribute it to you of course. I hope to learn more activities like that from you. Thank you!
