I've read that some or most of that moisture when preheating actually comes from the torch, not sure if that's true, I always thought it was coming out of the metal... its definitely important to preheat sometimes though, I think.

Great vids, and you have an excellent eye for detail. Removing the oxide is key imo... it is said though, that a power wheel can actually trap impurities in the metal, hand brushing in one direction is the preferred method as far as I know. (Sorry, not trying to be "that guy") I'm open for correction or discussion on the matter though. I've only got about a year of aluminum experience building boats and fuel tanks.

Thanks man. For the sound deadening I used this egg Carton shaped foam from Amazon. It made a big difference it comes in a vacuum sealed pack so you have to submerge it in water and ply with it for a bit then it will take its original shape after you ring it out. And I used 3m double sided tape and it’s not going anywhere. www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B0957CPDCG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

@Kirk_Wood
@Kirk_Wood Жыл бұрын
@@dimesdailymetalcraftddmc8461 Yeah the price was better than having it done local. Never been to their shop but the guys up there were easy to work with. Also they had it completed and shipped about a month before schedule. Their work is nice it's just your welds are close too perfection, due to it being your boat I'd say. Also the videos I have watched of yours have all had something in them I had not taken into consideration, so I appreciate that. What I've bought so far is the shell, fixed mount steering helm setup that after watching your video I want tilt🙏, shockwave suspension seat base with slide/swivel, and have heated prp seats on order. Wanting to put a Honda K24 engine with a turbo but haven't pulled the trigger yet, also haven't decided on the pump being that most stuff is coming from NZ shipping cost are stupid so trying hard to source parts closer to US. I'm goal is to be on the water in 6 months not wanting to rush through missing something because I have no clue what I'm doing but that's nothing new! Thanks again and you'll see me asking for guidance more than likely in the near future. 😉

Hey there yeah the jetstream guys are great to deal with. The forgot a couple things for boat on the pallet. I called them and the had it shipped that via rush delivery. For tilt steering you could always upgrade down the road. It’s hella expensive building these boats. I’m not sure about pumps but I know the southern jet nozzle with reverse bucket is super legit

Hey there. It’s called the tig finger. It’s designed by a guy on KZfaq. His channel is called tig time or something like that. Web site is weldingtipsandtricks.com I believe. It helps so you can rest a finger on the hot metal right next to the weld so your hand stays steadier for nicer weld profile. I have pretty shaky hands if I havnt eaten for a while I sure it all the time. It also slides across the metal very smoothly.
