I discovered this video because I'm thinking about buying this guitar, and you play literally what I would play on it. Thank you, the choice is made =))

Were the tuners a direct drop fit in? I am looking to swap the tuners out of my squier contemporary jazzmaster but i've literally never done anything like this and i am wondering how hard it'll be!
@alexrcowan28 күн бұрын
@@Rotten_Pizza_ Hi there! Yes these were a direct drop in replacement. Should be pretty easy to do for a first timer! Just take your time, use a proper sized screwdriver, and don’t use too much force if you are replacing the bushings. Good luck!

Starting the demo with Deftones. Already my kind of review. How's the tuning stability been so far?
@alexrcowan28 күн бұрын
@@TobyKBTY This was a great guitar for the earlier Deftones era for sure! I don’t own the guitar anymore, but it was always solid. I’ve very rarely seen a tuning stability issue on a Jazzmaster that couldn’t be fixed!

If I'm using an aftermarket (Seymour duncan quarter pound jaguar pickup) Does the claw still need to be regrounded? (Pickup stats the claw isn't necessary for this pickup)

You don't need to wrap your strings around the post, when using locking tuners
@alexrcowanАй бұрын
You don’t have to, but it’s a well known tech/luthier trick for getting a better break angle over the nut though, which is the reason for doing so here.

How do you keep the springs from falling off?? I bought the allparts springs but there's no difference, when I try to put the trem plate back on they fall off every time. I'm losing my mind!!

Definitely hot rails. I saw a Vinterta Mustang on FB Marketplace today with a hotrails pickup. I was so tempted, but I have just bought an MIJ jazzmaster and my gf will be so cranky if I buy yet another guitar. Must resist. It's on my future shopping list for sure though, either a mustang with a humucker or a jaguar with humbuckers.

After heaing both through very good car speakers both are very close the nod goes to the Classic but the GT2 can get yoh there and for much less cash...If you must get the original from 1989-95 I totally get it

Hey mate, very interesting video. I"ve had a Johnny Marr Jag for a few years now and I love it to bits. One thing about it though is that I can't do more than a semi tone bend on the first string without the sound cutting out. The fret board is that very curved style modelled off Johnny's '65 Jag I believe, and I do love the feel of it. But I heard somewhere that fretboards with a very curved radius are not so good for bending strings on. Is it possible to fix this with the right setup or is that just the way it is on a jag with an old school neck like that? I've learned to live with it and just use the 2nd string for bigger bends, but more and more I've been wondering if there is a solution.

my Cobain Jaguar must be old & odd, cause it came with this (or a similar) modification from the factory. Anybody else’s?
@alexrcowan3 ай бұрын
That is odd. Is it a Mexican Cobain jag? I believe the later Japanese Fender Cobain jags came stock with a 2 way switch, although I could be wrong. I assumed that they would be a bass cut switch like the original circuit rather than any kind of coil split. I’ve never seen a Mexican KC jag come with anything other than the thin black piece of plastic covering up the hole for the 2 way switch. Definitely not saying yours didn’t have a switch from factory, I’ve just never heard of it or seen it before on a Mexican KC jag

Hello Alex that's a very cool video ! Thanks I want to put some vintage tuner back instead of the Gotoh ones Do you think I will need some extra stuff ? I know that the old drilling holes are part of the "relicking" but I'm not sure if the diameter is too big for vintage tuner now Thank you !
@Luckyrider19584 ай бұрын
Tho those shims looked lousy done.. shimming a jag neck backwards is a typical luthier tune up move... It's how you drop the string height at the lower end near the pickups , and it minutely increases the break over angle at the bridge . good review! And you're spot on, a little "love" shown to perfect em once you have one, is well worth the effort.
