@iasked4203 I have the newer polara buttons IDS, INS and IN2 which use Bluetooth, just haven't swapped them out and make a video yet, will do it eventually, the IDS one you can wave at it to make the button call

@Joshua_Park_693 not on this model, this is the first in this design they used a small little board with a recording chip, the next model after this one and up to the versions used today can have different languages that you can program from the computer
@acerbtАй бұрын
Just for fun, I'm working with a friend to make an audio driven simulation of these where the goal would be that you could virtually map an intersection in the program with interactable buttons, and be able to hear vehicles and the sound signels as if it were a real intersection. I plan to support these and the newer IN series since I have an exaustive collection of sounds for both, though I am missing one set of sounds used on certain models. They were voiced by the same person that did the ones on the button in this video, but they are entirely different recordings and I can't seem to find any software for setting up the buttons that has them.

I have seen some older no right turn signs that use fibre optics with an incandescent bulb.
@kenlacey6781Ай бұрын
@davidlurhfan2005 yes there are a few out there but disappearing slowly as the mr16 bulbs only last 3000 hours usually so maintenance is costly to change out the bulb, they are cool looking signs, I have a video on a worded fiber optic blank out sign

Do these have trackers in them
@kenlacey6781Ай бұрын
@barra308 not sure what you are asking, they keep track of how many button pushes the button received on a log but that is all, the EN4 was a basic unit, the EN2 had more options as it used an iccu to keep track of button pushes and failures during operation

For those of you thinking that the fourth pedestrian light is LED, then that’s wrong. It’s actually incandescent fibre optic and you can tell by how the light changes.

@davidlurhfan2005 this one uses a MR16 12 volt 50 watt halogen bulb, you could use a LED MR16 bulb but there not bright enough for me, but they are getting better with technology

Very interesting countdown signal insert. They must have not been very popular, what with the way it's set up in a single 12" housing. Fiber-Optic Sales and National Sign & Signal made nearly identical inserts like that, along with NS&S making a 16" version that was more common.

I always thought the man symbol on those National Sign and Signal pedestrian units looked kind of weird. We still have them at one intersection in Brockton, MA.

@@kenlacey6781 absolutely! The clock battery on some of these controllers may die over time but it only affects the time of day plan. Other features should work normally. I could walk you through how to restore it and either use the ASC3 software or upgrade to EOS.

@TheTrafficTech I did try and restore the database from the econolite database to the controller in the software on the unit and it didn't work so I am hoping the software update will correct it, you get the econolite tune and takes a couple of minutes to load but still just boots to legacy screen, I was looking on econolite website and saw the EOS is it better?

Yes it was common on the early models as they used big transformers to illuminate the neon tubes, the hand / man neon used a small electronic transformer they didn't make as much noise

The fiber optic signals are really cool! Can you do a video of the inside of the fiber optic hand/man signal? There used to be a few in my area, but they were the 16” kind, but the 12” kind is essentially the same. I have always been curious how the fiber optic signals worked since I first saw them when I was little.
@davidlurhfan2005Ай бұрын
Tell you something funny. When I was little, just like you, I always thought the fibre optic signals are LED that flash slow. But then I started to get suspicious because the colour is a warm white, and LEDs are meant have a cooler white. After watching these videos, I finally realised that they are actually fibre optics with incandescent bulbs this whole time. 😁😁
