Im curious if you feel the same way after your recent crash? I just had a freak crash on a trail I knew well, and smashed my face into a rock. I believe a FF would have protected me better (luckily I am okay). So going convertible now on trail rides - regardless of it being heavier than a light weight full face (I don't like climbing in a full face)

If I recall correctly, there was a video (probably 10ish years ago) where a mountain biker attempted to navigate the spot where he says “don’t look left”. He didn’t have enough speed, gets hung up trying to get his foot unclipped from the pedal, and takes a loooong ride down the cliff.
