I just broke the bearing on my machine after about 1000 rounds of 9mm loaded. Frankford initially told me I could buy a new part, but then agreed to cover under warranty one time after I challenged them a little. They said it was my fault for forcing something, which I don't think I did. I've loaded over 30,000 rounds on a Hornady LNL so have some experience with reloading. It seems like poor design if the part breaks that quickly. On the positive side, I received the replacement piece from Frankford within about 3 days from contacting them.

I have been doing what you demonstrated, but with an additional step. With the tool head up, I cut a pice of 1/2 in PVC to a length that matches the distance from the bottom of the jam nuts to the mounting plate or bench top. The lower end of the reset rod should go inside the pipe and the jam nuts will rest on the edge of the pipe. The other end of the pipe is resting on the mounting plate or bench top. When you unscrew the reset rod screw the rod will be held in place and will not drop.

Speaking of the powder drop, I'm about to return the press to Frankford because the drop jams (both the micrometer and the rotating barrel) on fine-grained powders such as Accurate #7, which is the powder I've used for many years for my pistol loads. After only 5 drops, there's so much powder stuck between the barrel and the body that the drop won't move in either direction unless I "help" it by applying force to the micrometer. Frankford says that they have no solution at this point. I'd love to hear some ideas to fix this issue (especially from Frankford). BTW, received and installed your primer sensor today, very nice product but I don't know what I'll do with it if the press goes back.

@n6mz have you pulled the powder drop apart and fully cleaned it before using it? If not, please try that because they bare shipped with anti corrosion coatings that will do exactly that. In addition I just released a powder vibratory that helps with the powders doing that. I would have FA send out a new powder drop before sending the press back.
@n6mz
@n6mz 6 күн бұрын
@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 yes sir, it was completely disassembled and meticulously cleaned. No powder sticks to the components except for that which becomes trapped between the body and drum (and micrometer and drum). The first few throws work perfectly but by the 5th or so, it's jamming. Thanks.

FYI, I bought a Lee Auto Disc powder drop and 2-die set. The actuators in the dies are too short to work with pistol cases; fortunately I have access to a very well-equipped machine shop at which I machined a longer actuator for pistol cases. Add a little "creative engineering" for the Lee reset chain and it works beautifully with the X-10. Frankford is sending another powder drop to try so I'll report on that whenever it arrives.

Be sure the set screws on the powder charger dial are secure. I noticed on my x-10 my powder checker started showing the charge drifting and I adjust the dial but couldn’t get a consistent charge. When I investigated further, I pulled on the dial and the whole assembly came out and I was water falling powder everywhere. I plugged the hole with a finger until I could get a container to catch the powder and let it dump into that. I don’t know if I would threadlock the set screws, but I do recommend making sure they are secure before filling the hopper. I’ve made several thousand rounds without issue, but it’s something worth putting on your checklist as you set up the dies and doesn’t take 45 seconds to check. Learning from my mistake is much better than having to take the whole press apart and clean up all the wasted powder.
@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346
@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 25 күн бұрын
The issue is that the set screws were not through the holes in the micrometer, if they were it would have been impossible for it to have fallen out even if not tight. I cover this in my x10 set up video on the powder dropper cleaning.

Don't worry about yanking the wheel off, polish the side when exposed and sand and polish the whole shuttle. You can very slightly chamfer the primer pocket inside so it won't catch on the way out. Don't use grease or oil. Instant regret. Use graphite. Graphite on the shuttle is your friend.

Hi, i got the 9mm insert because i use 9mm bullet on my 38 super and to be fair to get the parts in Norway is somewhat hard. but the 9mm insert bends the edge of my brass, is it the shoulder on the smooth bore that`'s longer/deeper on the 38 super ? to compensate for the 2mm difference in the brass on the 9mm ? because it is only those inserets that's different right ?
@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346

The pistol caliber bullet seaters are absolutely caliber specific and not designed for different calibers other than what's stated they work with. They are very dependent on case height and diameter
@almamater5894
@almamater5894 Ай бұрын
@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 yes so i figured but 9mm and 38 super got more or less the same diameter, and are about 2mm appart, and i was wondering what the difference in the actual bullet seater was, since i cant get the 38 super here in Norway i need to modify it so to speak. because with the long 9mm bullet collator it works well and seats bullets just fine, but the short one does not, thats why i was wondering what the difference is on the depth of the shoulder in the bore where the case pushes against was the main difference.

Just my own 2c. Yes definitely wet tumble for range brass, especially if you do a lot of AR shooting. Personally for myself that do LR shooting and hunting I do not wet tumble at all. I have found that if I reload with brass that has been wet tumbled and shoot it 6 months or a year later I get velocity variations that is not ideal especially for LR shooting. Bullet coating does make it better regarding the variation in velocity. Dry tumble and a bullet coating no velocity change regardless of how long they stand before I shoot it. Would like to hear your thoughts on this? (I call it some kind of brass-copper lock that occurs over time)...

Those are good tools to help with the adjustment. However I can not see that you have addressed the biggest problem I have with this press(aside from the crappy case feeder from hornady), the cases(especially tall cases) tilt inwards when they are indexed into station 5 because the retainer spring dives underneath the outer side of the rim of the case and lifts up causing the case to tilt inwards. That causes the inside half of the case mouth to collide with the mouth of the crimp die in station five. So if you place a case in the shell plate and you watch it while indexing it a full round, you will probably notice that the case tilts when indexed to station five..
