I hate to say this but sometimes sin is just covering more sin. (over torque covers out of balance, out of round, lack of surface prep etc)

Very enlightening series. When I get enough scratch, I'd ever... I am spending the $400-$650 to get that four-foot break-away handle torque wrench. So many tire shops just hammer in the nuts and hold it for much more than two seconds on my truck-tractor. I am all but certain the bolts are over torqued.

@4:20 I know the truck carrying that giant dump truck had to creep down the hill at a snail's pace. Because that dump truck weighs way more than 80,000 pounds.

Good training video. However tech should be wearing hard hat, safety glasses and gloves at a minimum. This would be an OSHA violation at our shop location...and worse...could end up with an injured employee should something happen.
@johnycash82919 жыл бұрын
Gloves and hard hats are not required for mechanics and tire techs. Hard hat will not protect you in case of tire blow out and tuck slips off the jack stands. It is not OSHA violation. You must be working for a plant that over trains employees for safety. Gloves not required also. But we like to use them anyway. You need to concentrate on training of this video. If this tires come off at 70 mph, it may kill many people and cause lots of damages. :D
@phillhuddleston94455 жыл бұрын
@@johnycash8291 Agreed, safety glasses yes the rest is optional, if someone is that paranoid of injury they need a desk job.

Its a good repair, sealed the hole and covered the injury with a reinforced parch... For the other comments below, super single (Monolithic) tires are not cheap like car radials.

Tech needs to make better patches. It seems like Rema Tiptop is way better. Also buffed twice which is not good for inner lining. Here is how Bandag pro recap shop does it. First remove nail. Second drill hole. Third Insert plug stem Fourt measure and mark patch Sixth clean and buff Seventh put glue and patch. Repair sealer may be used but not neccesary.
@nameremoved40107 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is closer to the way I was trained. Seems like the area around the hole was cleaned before the plug hole reamed ( to get contaminants like oils and silicones) and after the plug for sure. I like the hole sizing awl though I don't recall it as part of the process. Hmmmm.
