Love how people interpret it differently, all I can see is a man blinded by love, willing to sacrifice anything including his sanity to make her happy, unintentionally serving his own poison. I see a guy actively trying to tame this aggressive/abusive/toxic/broken girl, he loved her façade that made him feel peace and yearns for those better days. I see a man that wants to protect his girl with his embrace and guidance, but to her his love and protection feels suffocating, her delusions make her feel like a cornered animal, fighting the one she's supposed to love. She keeps on walking away far enough for him to worry and get desperate, but never far enough for her to leave, since she always stops halfway and lets him try to reel her back in. Then when she feels sufficated again, the claws come out in a neverending cycle, until he stays down, accelts reality and accepts the help she need isn't his, his affection is better spend on someone more deserving and appreciating. I broke up with my girl a few days ago, so I'm sure it affected how it translated in my mind.
