In Australia, my father bought a Austin A90 sedan in 1954. It was undoubtedly one of the worst cars coming out of the UK during the 1950s which is saying something. After less than 10,000miles, the engine blew so much smoke that an engine tear down was necessary in which the rings were replaced proprietary Cord oil control rings (they worked). Also failing at around the same time were the lever action front shock absorbers. These proved to be very expensive to replace as the shock absorbing component was an integral part of the upper wishbone assembly. Finally, and this proved to be the last straw as far my father was concerned, both rear axle shafts had to be replaced due to the originals failing at the point where the spline started at the inner end of the shaft (poor heat treatment?). I can remember these pitiful events vividly as I was in my late teens when I worked on this pathetic excuse for a vehicle. In Australia at the time, the A90's main competitor was the GMH Holden, a car with a lively performance resulting from an inline 6 matched to a 3 speed gearbox and, for the time, a robust body. The Austin was no match for it, performance, longevity or sales-wise.

I had the same Prelude with a manual transmission from '98 to '05. Those seats and the gear shift were 🔥. Still miss it to this day.

I had the top of the range Ti model in 1980 to 82 in this colour. Fuel injected and electric windows, a fantasic car one of the best I have ever had.

An awesome machine in their day. It was in a class of it's own. People took notice when they drove by. Friends dad had one in 1976. Nice V8 burble. Sat high, so great view out. Comfortable. Rode nice. Great off road too. Simple and classy.

Plus commission, I do notice that with some auction houses charging as much as 34%buyers premium, and a seller having to pay fees as well , it’s not treating the customer fairly, be careful that you don’t kill the golden goose.

my dad had this exact model/year/colour magnette in Malta. he bought it there at 2 years old and brought it back to UK in '59. it was then registered 369 AJJ. disappeared soon after.
