All fair points. I got a 95 lt1 auto with 44k on it and extremely well maintained. Wife and I love it. We are not trying to set the world on fire, its is a quick fun and cool feeling riding car. We could of left the cash in the bank with crap returns on interest or bought an affordable sports car and enjoyed the time with it. If it only holds same value or so, we will still have the entire idea of the car for nothing in cost. THE EXPERIENCE IS THE MEMORIES. Everything works after $39 in headlight kit and my labor, all power and cold AC.. Glad they are out there for ppl to buy and enjoy!

I am fine if my 92 LT1 6 speed does not astronomically increase in value because a C4 Corvette is the car Iusted after as a teenager and the fact that I now have one as a weekend toy brings me more joy than I ever imagined it would. It's my fouth Vette, my first C4 and without a doubt my favorite.

At 8:28 The bad thing about a manual ( I had a 96 LT4 ) Is when you need a new clutch ( If you take it to a shop to have it installed ) They will make you convert to a single mass flywheel for them to warranty their work, because GM and aftermarket companies no longer manufacture and sell dual mass flywheels and a dual mass flywheel can't be turned by a machine shop.. The only problem I had with the conversion was the gear chatter ( My LT4 had 71,000 miles on it ) People will tell you the less miles = Less transmission wear = Less gear chatter.. That was not the case with mine.. It was almost unbearable at times.. Mechanically the conversion worked perfect and actually felt better through the clutch pedal, but not so much through the gear shifter and transmission tunnel.. I had people asking me " what's wrong with your car? " If you know a work around to deal with that I'm sure that upload would get a lot of views... Awesome upload as usual bud, very informative and spot on.. Take care & have a good one

I agree, but this is all about the eyes of 1984 at debut. The 1985 TPI car alone was a massive leap forward. I currently have a 1996 LT4, and it's obviously exponentially quick than a 1984 due to having 125 additional horsepower.

Love my 91 C4 auto with a passion. Don't care what anyone says, it's 10 tons of fun even with an auto. It's also completely gorgeous IMO. You're right of course, the manuals will always be more valuable - but as the years go by, and there's fewer and fewer good ones, I suspect that they'll start to appreciate, or at least hold their value very well. It's still a Vette, after all, and that name means something.

I get it. I've had 2 automatics, and they were still fantastic cars. I can't imagine getting more for the money I spent! And they were both early cars with the atari dash.... and nothing is cooler than Motley Crue with that dashboard in the foreground.

Car's fine. You're too G.d big. My friend from high school's grandmother bought him one. He was just 6' and 190 lbs but if you followed him down the road you would be alarmed by the 10 degree port list. Front A arms and fenders developed stress cracks and he had to give it up.

I’m in southeast Michigan. From my experience I have seen c3 and c4 vette’s go through close to everything! My mother only drove corvette’s from 1980 to around 99, not bragging, my dad just loved her and was happy driving cheap old trucks! I’m looking for a C4, I just wanna daily it, I will run it through dirt roads, rain and snow. You think there is any reliability difference between the auto and manual? I would rather have a manual. Easily under 10 grand, including convertibles, under 80k miles, under 60k miles with some patience. No rust, maintenance to a high level,decent power, gas mileage being great! They are really overlooked.
@mattquerio12 күн бұрын
Manuals under 10k are hard to find, as manuals as a whole are hard to find. I'm not super familiar with the 4+3, but I'd say that the auto is more reliable than that. The ZF 6 speed is plenty reliable though. If you're gonna bomb it around, and trash it more or less, I'd get an auto. Manuals are generally 50%-100% more money, and you still have to find one. I can tell you no matter the tire, you're going to get stuck in snow lol. They are too low, and the tires are too wide. Unless you play in 1 or 2 inches of powder.
@kastlrock55712 күн бұрын
@@mattquerio Thank you. I didn’t even think about the price difference between the auto and manual. You’re 1000% right. My only reason for wanting a manual was for the unknown reliability factor of the automatic.

The only car I ever actually enjoyed owning and driving was a 1967 Mk 4 1275cc Austin Healey Sprite (identical to a M3 MG Midget). We did many long tours in it covering over 100,000 miles. We owned it from 1969 to 1976. It didn't have seat belts but we had to fit them when the law changed I had to fit some but never used them. I was young then and drove it pretty quickly most of the time in the UK and Europe. 85/90 mph was common and it handled well on twisty roads. It was good for over 100mph. I used to tow a racing dinghy to race meetings. The joy was that the hood was very quick to erect which meant it was driven with it down most of the time even in sub-zero (celsius) temperatures. Probably the longest distance in a day was from south of Naples to Lido de Jessolo on the Venice lagoon with all our camping gear. 2 or 3 hundred miles in a day, mostly on 2 lane roads wasn't unusual.

I had the misfortune of having to ride in the passenger seat of one of these from LA to Vegas when they first came out. My feet were nearly cooked off, and I was on crutches for a week. The exhaust ran through a box that took up a big chunk of the footwell on the passenger side. I think this may be why they are so cheap. Other than that, it's just another 80's junk car.
@mattquerio10 күн бұрын
I couldn't disagree more. The exhaust does run under the car by the trans tunnel, but I have never noticed any excessive heat in any of the 6 I've owned. I don't think that's why they are cheap, as it is the first I have ever heard of it. Lol. But hey, you like what you like man.
