I loved the condenser mic it picked up the accordion treble very well I am guessing you have a mini hook-up on the left-hand bass. Now I see it. Fantastic little song.

Hello again Paul. The first time I had ever heard this played was by a gentleman named Clive Williams. He played a slower version but I love both I love the faster version because it gives me a better understanding of how the melody goes. Well done Loved this as well I guess I can't get enough of great accordion. You play so very well. I am sure you are an instructor. thanks your for sharing this amazing little song.

I love it so much this melody is an amazing Waltz. You play very well Paul. I am glad I stumbled onto your channel. It gives me great courage to continue on with what I like to do with the accordion. BRAVO thanks for being on KZfaq. Wonderful playing.

I love the external pickups. My opinion is it is better than drilling a hole into the box to add an internal system. The sound is better and no damage to the Box or air supply. What kind of pickup do you use Please?

This is a beautiful melody, Paul. I enjoyed it so much this is my second time listening to it. I am of Scottish Heritage so this music is the love of my life. Are you also a teacher?

Hello Paul, This video is very informative. I knew nothing about what you mentioned about different boxes. So I learned something new and being self-taught it should be helpful if I should buy another box.

Hello Paul this sounded lovely to my ears. I enjoy the button box since I was a little guy. You play very well. Thanks for sharing your GC melodeon I have ADG melodeon, my dad used to complain when all I could play in was C LOL but he played guitar and I guess it was difficult for his fingers as he had arthritis. But I love your playing here thanks for sharing this lovely tune. You now have a new friend. Patrick. White of Canada!

Great video, Paul. My girlfriend plays Pokerworks and assorted other 8-base accordions, and I accompany her on fiddle. She is thinking of moving into a Mory but is wondering if it would be "too big a for a girl." Do you know of any female players who play Mory's or similar box? We really love your music.

@@macleodcushing9852 Anna Pack and Rannveig Djønne are the first female Mory players who spring to mind. Sophie Cavez, Amélie Denarié and many others play the even heavier Handry 18. But big heavy boxes do take some getting used to for anybody.

Hi!! Can I ask the name of the song you play in the beginning of the part 4?? I learned it from a friend years back but have forgotten what it’s called. It’s one of my favourites because it took me ages to learn it with GC accordion 😁

That's Mazurka d'Embrault or "Fubu" by Thierry Mirebeau. My full video of it is here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kJplY9WQtbnZloE.html By the way I just recently learned Haudanmaan Hääpolska from your video. Please post more videos of you playing some day. :)

Hi Paul..Great playing as usual..As we know B/C and C#/D are used In irish trad, but you play these irish tunes so effortlessly using D/G box. In your opinion is it possible to play all irish tunes using D/G box or are there drawback or trade offs...Cheers Jack

B flat on a D/G box, and sounding effortless. I've seen the description of your 2½ row layout on your web site, and the number of keys that it enables you to play in, but this is a very impressive demonstration - beautifully done!

A reminder that the hoary session standards that people tend to avoid became popular because they are such good tunes. It only needs a twist like this more melancholy interpretation to bring them to life again. Given the lyrics, I never did understand why it's so often rendered in such a hearty manner - your take brings out the beauty.

How would you adapt this layout in G/C? Just transpose everything and 3rd button start or would you change something?
@paulyoungfolk
@paulyoungfolk Ай бұрын
For GC I think just I'd just leave the outside two rows with the standard accidentals you'd get on a two row GC (push Eb and G#, pull C# and Bb) and then the two extra buttons give you those accidentals one octave higher. And yes, third button start. I haven't checked but I'd guess that's probably the standard GC layout Castagnari offer for this box. Seems like the obvious choice.

And of course you could also do the Heim/Dutch reversal thing and swap round the Gs and As on the C row...

I do like to hear melodeons and I have the Hohner pokerwork in dg but I prefer to play my 5 row c system Fantini 96 bass. The only down side of the 5 row is the weight so I have to sit to play it where as I stand up and can move around when on the the small Hohner.
