Hello I have 2014 ford focus tcm makes sounds when I open door has tcm code going get it replaced under recall tomorrow they said it would it starts to over heat tcm does when I drive when it gets warm and they said would be fine to drive it down there would it mess anything further up inside of transmission?

Does the part # for the replacement need to match the original tcm? It matters for the ecm. I tried installing an ecm with a different part number on a '13 Focus, and the ac wouldn't work. Different trim levels apparently have different hvac pieces parts.

Thank you for all these videos. I have a 2014 with 185k miles. tcm and clutches were replaced around 75k miles by ford. I have noticed In the summer on hot days I get the P0902 code but recently have had it occur more than usual. I’ve sanded down all the grounds and cleared the code. I’m my area the temperature has dropped below 90 and the code and shuttering hasn’t come back yet. I can’t tell if I need a new TCM or clutches.

@shidderboy hi, that code is electrical. It's probably an actuator or tcm. You can move the top actuator to the bottom to see if the code changes to a p090c to confirm actuator failure

Any thoughts on a 2015 Focus with P287A, P087A, P090D? Had these same codes more than a year ago that changed to P07A2 and P2700. That led to me getting a clutch assembly fix. I swapped the actuators and that hasn't fixed anything. I like my Focus.

I have a 2014 focus. I have replaced the clutch, slave cylinder, both clutch forks and both actuators and I’m still getting codes. They have varied but the most recent is P285D. I replaced both actuators a second time with ford OEM ones, and still getting the same code. Any ideas? When the codes aren’t popping up, it shifts nicely with no shudder now. Once the code pops up, it shifts odd, acts like it’s in neutral, goes into limp mode and so on.

I have the 1.5 eco boost engine original and the water pump and timing chain was replaced a few years ago. It only has 39,000 miles and the transmission is making a whining noise when I ecelerate. It also had an issue switching from 2nd To third gear only once. All I have done so far is add a quart of transmission fluid. Do you have any ideas on what's going on? I am using my warranty but it expires August 20 2024

Hey Ben, with another questions as always. I am replacing the bigger shaft seal that is under the clutch. It was leaking like I’ve never seen. I removed the seal and the shaft has a ton of play in It. Is this normal? I can wobble the shaft back and forth

I just test drove one and had a growl noise when I push on the gas it seems not like a normal acceleration noise, but I don’t know how hybrid supposed to sound. It was not like the noise in this video though

Polish the grounds, clear the codes, reset the transmission. I wonder how many of the TCM issues are caused by years of having a bad ground. The last time i got my p090 code was a year ago, just reset the codes twice and did nothing else and it fixed itself.

Hi, no i didn't take it off. I remove the starter (leaving the wiring nuts on) and move the starter aside, then remove the nuts from the bottom of the car with a 13mm socket, flex socket and extension

What do you think my problem would. With the 6F35 only shifts at 4000rpms from 2-3 when it is cold . And then when it warms up it will shift normally. Would that be the solenoid B you were speaking of. Awesome channel by the way!

I know this is an older post but hope you still monitor it. I was at the stage of disconnecting the upper harness and had the grey clip disengaged and only the cover came off. The base of the plug is still seated firmly and I cannot get the cover re-attached. Is there a trick, or did I really F-up?

I would pop the cover back on if possible because you need that to move the slides. If you can get it to click into place, just try to firmly press the cover inwards as you work the slide release lever down

@BigBensCarsAndCycles So, I went back to your video, and saw that the gears had not completely raised the clips above the seated portion of the plug. So it took a while, but I was able to line everything back up and pushed the clip completely to the bottom, therefore releasing the plug and was able to disengage it then. However, the bottom one was a B*tch to get off. I sprayed lube, tried a flat tip screw driver, cut my hands, forearm, and elbow before it finally released. I guess Ford requires a sacrifice before yielding!🙄 Thanks for the video and the response!

hi big Ben, I'm in need of a little help. I did the clutches using this video. I was meticulous about it and really took my time, but now that its back together it wont start., I'm getting P2002/U0402/P2802/U1013. it's almost like it doesn't have a TCM plugged in. is there something that needs to be programmed that a Snap On scanner can't do? Thanks for the great video !

I'm glad the video helped. I would inspect the range sensor for damage to either the sensor or wiring. If all looks ok, you can try unplugging the battery for an hour or 2 to see if that'll un-glitch the tcm. Otherwise it may be a tcm problem, but you can try replacing the range sensor first.

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Wanted to drop a line to say YOU NAILED IT!! $20 later and the car is shifting better than it ever has. The LUK kit is fantastic, as is your video. The only thing I goofed on was not loosening the main RH motor mount when I dropped the trans.. so I ruined the mount.. but when the new one comes, it'll be 100% Thank you so much for your videos.. I imagine it saved me almost $2400 , and that aint hay !

Hi Ben. We replaced the forks and clutch following your video. When we went to turn the clutch to test it the inner portion around the input shaft is not spinning. Did we mess something up?

Hi, no thats fine. If you put it in neutral it should all spin. The shaft is just locked on the parking paw

@vlader7515 make sure it's got gas in it, and that the purge valve isn't stuck wide open, and try unplugging the low side fuel pressure sensor and cranking

Any quick fixes for the torque converter stuck on? Ive got a 08 mariner v6. It drives perfectly fine until you go to stop. It then shakes/shudders and will stall if you dont throw it in neutral. We ran trans x in it for 250 miles, did 4 drain and fills, and although its better it hasn't corrected it.

I have a 2012 Focus, and after I replaced the clutch myself. This was the second one I have done myself, so a littl ebit of experience doing it. When I put it back in, I get this slightly louder whine/roar when in either third or fourth gear. I beleive it's fourth though. Definitely no roar in second, and goes away in fifth and sixth. Any opinion about this would be appreciated. Thank you

Very helpful. I smooshed the input sensor B wires and exposed the conductors trying to get the trans back in place. I found a replacement pigtail right away once you mentioned the ABS pigtail is the same.

Well. Ok. I don't own a Focus, but I did recently Drive one as a Loner and MAN O MAN did it make a Groaning Noise? I don't have a clue what it was but it was BAD. Thank the Lord we Don't own one. Sounded like an Expensive Repair?? A Lot of Work to Replace a Bearing. Good Info BIG BEN.

I can’t believe there are so many parts in this transmission. What a major job. That’s why Coleman Taylor wants $4650 to rebuild it. A fully rebuilt trans is $3100. Who would spend that much on a 2010 Ford Fushion? Time to buy another used car! It’s a sorry trans built by Ford, that only lasted 150,000 miles. And the car was driven very easily. More people are buying foreign cars because they seem to be built better. What a major time consuming and costly transmission this is to rebuild.

Turn off your vehicle's ignition and wait patiently for 5 to 10 seconds. Start the engine and allow it to idle for several seconds. Switch off the ignition and wait patiently for another 30 to 40 seconds. Repeat these steps 2 to 3 times in order to reset your vehicle's transmission control module.note I’m used my scanner for the process (snap-on)
