I have a 4060 ti and have just played through metro exodus ultra raytraced using around the same amount of vram as base game ksp, considering what's onscreen that's bizarre. I can max out rdr2 using less vram than the base game aswell. From what I can gather, it uses the same amount of resources in the game menu as playing the game, so is the game loading every single asset into vram before you even launch it. I've never seen anything like that before, no culling, just everything all at once. It's no wonder they felt the need to go for a new engine and start from scratch, if they'd tried to add any more expansions then it would just add more to the vram, and they say recommended spec is 1gb vram, lol. I'll try some of these mods you suggest one at a time and see what they use, scatterer seems to use almost nothing, good start.

Downloaded CKAN run it and get loads of pop ups asking this that and the other and no matter what I click nothing happens. Now it won't even load at all. What a load of shite!

Firstly, did you place the CKAN in the main KSP folder? If not, it will do nothing.

Why does it look better than KSP 2? Awesome, at the start I thought, that first screenshot was from KSP 1, and second was from KSP 2 lmao. I feel so bad that i can't install all of these mods (my 3060 ti and i5 9600kf won't understand me). I think that these mods require 32 Gb of RAM, because if you have 13 GB filled, it means, that KSP wants moore (ur system takes 3-4 GB on average because of Windows)

KSP Modlist? (So sorry if this has been asked before) Other than that, my next question would be, what got you INTO KSP? For example, for me, it was Learn To Fly the game series (hence the penguin profile picture and penguin name).

I do have a modlist I found from a previous reply to a similar question. It isn't all of the mods I use (80+) though it covers most of the visual mods and other essentials. EVE Scatterer True Volumetric Clouds Parallax 2.0 Spectra Planetshine Distant Object Enhancement Waterfall TUFX TURD Lazy Painter Docking Camera Transfer Window Planner Re-entry Effects Camera Tools DE_IVA Free IVA Through the eyes of a Kerbal Vessel Displayer Raster Prop Monitor Chatterer Extended EVA Follow Kerbal Konstructs KSC Extended Hangar Extended Tundra Space Centre Poods Skybox Deep Star Map Docking Port Sound FX For how i became passionate about KSP initially, I can't exactly remember because it was 2016 but I will see if I can find something about that.

since when the stock game is using 7gb of vram when all vanilla fps videos have 2-3gb? Don't tell me that because you have 1440 it makes it use twice as much, because it's bullshit. That graph BARELY gives any information, install "msi afterburner" and "riva tunner" that comes with it.

This is good for challenges, but for those of us that prefer "semi-realistic" gameplay, things like habitat and research modules are also a part of the design, so this is kinda moot.

Yeah i agree its a very controversial situation, I'm not entirely opposed to it when the price is reasonably small though. But yes, as a concept it's annoying to have content locked behind a paywall.
