If like me you have never even known about needle tatting , let alone done any, then this is the best instruction you will find. I’m still trying to work this out and I’m wondering if it’s because I’m left handed.

Jenny, try playing the video to a mirror and watch it in the mirror, not on your device. That should reverse the actions for you.

Thank you very much for the outstanding tutorial. I attempted numerous times to do shuttle tatting and gave up. I also like how you shoe wrapping the thread around the index finger only rather than alternating between the thumb and index finger. It is SO much easier! Thank you again!

A friend of mine years ago tatted doilies… I loved them she used a shuttle. I’ve always wanted to learn. I believe everyone learns differently and some teachers work for some but not all. I spent yesterday frustrated and literally wadding up thread and cussing. Your video had me making rings in no time. Thank you! The only thing I did wrong was not holding the thread from needle eye so basically there was only one tail… and the thread didn’t pull through. …. Rewatched and got it!

The only tutorial that made any sense to me. You are the only one that I could see that tells us to bring our yarn all the way around in a loop at the beginning. Nobody else tells you this and I got really confused why I could not get my stitches off the needle to make a flower ~now I know.

I found some beautiful pieces in a ziplock bag when my husband and I moved into our home back in 2016. They weren't kept by the previous owners as family heirlooms! But no one has been able to tell me anything about the skill which went into them- until now! I've had to sleuth the stitches and techniques to find a kind soul who suggested they were a combination of embroidery and tatting! I want to learn this skill! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skill 😍

I gotta say this us both simpler and harder than I thought it was going to be. I'm using a big Ole embroidery needle and some scrap yarn to learn this. Thank you so much for posting this great tutorial ♡♡♡
@TheThreadCorner2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah! You really should use a tatting needle; most regular needles have eyes that are larger than the diameter of the needle, and you need to be able to slide your stitches off over the eye. The eyes in tatting needles are the same diameter as the needle. You can get tatting needles off of my website, www.tattingcorner.com :)

I'm not understanding how I'm ending up with extra loops of thread at the end that I can't pull through. This seems so much easier than shuttle tatting in a way but I don't understand 😥

Easier than shuttle?
@TheThreadCorner2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sherry, it can be easier for some people. In needle tatting you don't have to "flip" the thread like you do when you make stitches in shuttle tatting.
@TheGholiday2 жыл бұрын
Wow. I’m currently trying to learn shuttle tatting. Flipping the knot is a major hurdle for me. Needle tatting looks far easier to learn as there’s no knit flipping required.
