The simplest way is to select your track and then just drag it into your Garmin's User Data folder. The other way is to select the track, go to the Device menu item and choose the option to send it to your device.

How do you get the new track onto your Garmin?
@garminbasecampforabsoluteb8858
@garminbasecampforabsoluteb8858 2 жыл бұрын
Plug your Garmin into your computer. Basecamp will recognise the Garmin in a short while. You can then drag your new track onto the Garmin in the left pane. Disconnect the Garmin and check that the track is on there and recognisable.

Hi, and thank you for creating the videos that you have, so what is best to use for waking, tracks? I am looking at doing the Coast to Coast in 2021 and so purchased a guide and it came with downloadable tracks, so do I need to make them into routes? and in regard to Tracks, if I stop overnight will the Garmin pick up on the track so as to allow me to continue the walk, and lastly so to speak, I have looked at the same site and this has the Pennine way mapped as waypoints, think these are more general as these are guides as to the direction one takes and so one can decided on the path? thank you in advance for your help.

This is a very belated kudos comment. I recently acquired a Garmin Zumo gps for motorcycling purposes, appropriate supplementary maps for off-road routes on an sd card and, necessarily, downloaded Basecamp. What a totally befuddling and unintuitive piece of software, and their video tutorials are useless. So, I went searching on KZfaq and I must have looked at five or six commentators before I found you. They all no-doubt knew whereof they spoke, but as instructors, they were not very good. You, on the other hand, are a brilliant instructor. I could actually follow along as you guided me through each process; just little touches such as putting a yellow circle to high-light the cursor as you move it about...others would be "I go here, I go there" and I am going "what, wait, where are you"; lots of little details like that set your videos apart. Methinks perhaps a teacher in "real life"?? Anyway, excellent, very helpful and I am sincerely grateful.

What a breath of fresh air. I get my garmin etrex out of the cupboard every couple of years and tear my hair out as I try to navigate (no pun intended) my way around, to me, the totally non-intuitive BaseCamp app before throwing it back in the cupboard or just taking it along for the walk in case I need to check my position. How I wish I'd seen this when it was published. Thank you so much for a clear, step by step, non USA orientated tutorial. I look forward to learning more ------- at last!!!!

I am so glad that the videos have helped. They were intended to just get people going on Basecamp so that they were confident to start using it. I'm sure that there are lots of expert level tutorials out there, but sometimes we just need to get over the starting line!

Hi, I am using Basecamp 4.7.1 at the moment, but have been using earlier versions too, and it's on each of those versions. If you look at the Tools menu, is your Divide tool there but just greyed out? If it is, you need to click on your track on the map to make it work. If it's not that, what version are you running?
@RambloManiacs
@RambloManiacs 4 жыл бұрын
@@cwrycraft it's definitely not under tools on mine. Not sure the version, I'll check later, but it's on mac. I did manage to find a "split" option by Ctrl clicking on a point. Problem is now I want to change which point is the start (not just move it, but change it to a different mark on the route). Not sure that's possible?
@cwrycraft
@cwrycraft 4 жыл бұрын
@@RambloManiacs Maybe it's different on a Mac, I've never tried that. No, I'm not sure if it is possible to set a new start point....

Thank goodness for you, dead easy and clear. My new eTrex and PC were about to go through the window after 2 nights getting nowhere viewing the appalling "Garmin" produced video tutorials. How such a big established company feels its OK to provide such rubbish I'm not sure. Many thanks for taking the time to do this.

I bought a GPSMAP 64s and it hasn't yet arrived but I'm wondering if I've got the right thing. Can these handheld GPSs take me to an address without knowing where it is on a map, like if I only knew the address details of a postcode, street name and house number etc? Something like car drivers use but that works for both walkers and drivers. I hope I've got the right device.

Hi, I don't know that model, but my Garmin allows me to enter addresses to go to. I can't say that I have ever done it, I prefer to map out a walk and follow the route/track before hand. But it does look like it is possible to do what you want.

Thanks for the post. Basecamp is like something from the 1980's. Can you provide advice on how continue adding to the end of a route?
@JackF99
@JackF99 8 жыл бұрын
Nvr mind i figured it out. From insert point mode double click on the last point on the route and drag to next point. With a more modern program you'd simply right click on the last point and would have a drop down with "add to route" option. Basecamp is hilariously clunky.
