I hope your daughter still continues living a healthy and happy life in spite of this MVR -- which definitely happens these days :) Make sure she gets an adequate amount of potassium (but not too much if she has kidney issues) and magnesium in her diet after she gets released from the hospital, since deficiencies in these electrolytes can trigger cardiac arrhythmias in those who already have pre-existing heart issues.

I’ve been doing this for years. I never thought of it as a new or different brewing method; rather, I considered it to be a case of me wanting to extend my session, but being too lazy to go through the whole process over again 🤔 🤨

I just want to give you my perspective on dealing with these types of things, which admittedly, is easier said than done. First, the priority, and the only thing you should focus on for the time being, is dealing with the autoimmune issue. You said the heart issue is, at least for now, asymptomatic, so the autoimmune problem is what is causing her to suffer. Even if you wanted to get the heart surgery done today, it would be an impossibility given her current condition. After you get this under control, when she starts feeling better and returns to her normal self, when you are in a better, clearer mental state, that is when you can sit down and decide about the heart issue. Here is what you have going for you: 1. You identified the issue very early on. Since she was asymptotic, had she not gotten sick with this autoimmune disease, you most likely would not even know about it, so even though it sucks, this is a relatively good thing. 2. She is very young, and kids have a way of bouncing back from health issues that most adults would never recover from 3. You and your wife obviously love your daughter more than life itself; that much is obvious. So ensuring she is in a loving, happy, stress free environment will go a long way in both improving and/or maintaining her quality of life and in helping her recover. I definitely sympathize and understand that this sort of thing is a parents worst nightmare, but you are doing everything in your power to help heal your little girl, and having a loving, strong father to support and encourage her is exactly what she needs. So don’t forget to take care of yourself as well. I definitely would encourage you, once the autoimmune issue is resolved, to seek a second and third opinion. Doctors are far from infallible, and with the constant scientific/medical advances in this day and age, perhaps she may have some less invasive options, or even a different diagnosis than was originally thought. Lastly, I want to wish you, your wife, and your daughter the best. I can see in your face how stressed you are, and I know how sickening it makes one feel to watch your child suffer and not being able to do anything about it, when you would gladly trade your life in a heartbeat just to have them get better. I’ve been there and i know that pain all too well. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone

Your Eastern Beauty (June 2003) was one of my first true teas, and it was almost a spiritual experience. Not only the taste but also the effects. It was pure joy and peacefulness. My mother and sister both had mitrovalve prolapse and its genetic in my family. Both recovered well. Horrible to see a child suffer and nothing worse for a parent to navigate thier child's suffering. Holding space and sending healing to you all

My son was born a year and half ago with an extremely rare congenital condition called CCHS that effects his autonomic nervous system, specifically his breathing, we spent six months displaced from our home at a nearby children's hospital adapting to his necessity for tracheostomy surgery so he could be properly ventilated while sleeping. It was the hardest thing we've ever done, your life splinters and becomes existence before the diagnosis and existence after. One thing I can tell you is that the dark clouds do pass, the trauma of the event remains in some facet, but the skies do open, and it does get easier. One of the best things you can do for your child is to do the things that make you feel filled up, the more broadband you have to give them when they need it, the better. It's hard to imagine separating yourself from them to fill your own cup, but when they need you, you are so much more apt to meet their needs with grace, and beyond that, to hear the sometimes disappointing words of Doctors and to feel the wins with even greater depth. You hold your child a little closer after something like this happens, they become even more special than they already were, but I would advise you to avoid over medicalizing their life, the medical system has the best intentions, but they are still a kid, let them be a kid, they cannot become their diagnosis, that will only serve to harm you, and harm them. We'll see you on the other side, teacup in hand!
