Cara and Sarah I am going to fall on the sword because after hearing you talk about Peter I just can't wrap my brain around that song being about Matty. She said that this was wrapping up the last 10 years of her life. As I look at the words for Peter I still say it is about Harry Styles because it says that they were just kids and he said he was going to grow up and come find her. In the song she says he was going to get her but he was 25 and the shelf life had expired. You said that she didn't meet Matty until he was 25 but if it is about Harry he was 18 when they started dating and if you do the time line by the time he turned 25 she would have started her relationship with Joe so that is why she turned out the light.

You guys regarding WHOS AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME? Taylor is saying that the public and news outlets and tabloids constantly tear her down time and time again and think she’s just some dumb pop girl. This song is her saying YOU should be scared of me. She’s saying her career and the drama surrounding her paved so many of their paths and careers and all they do it tear her apart, and all she used to do was sit there and take it. Now she is using her voice and standing up for herself and truly living her life unafraid of other’s opinions and reactions. Shes also referring to how she grew up media trained (“I was tame I was gentle till the circus life made me mean, don’t you worry folks we took out all her teeth” ). She’s saying she is the way she is now and knows what she does because all of this and her life and the spotlight made her this way. It’s also about how people have lately had all these weird conspiracy theories claiming Taylor is a witch and is despicable and cruel and uses her songs to like control people. That’s what’s she’s referring to throughout the whole song. :)

My take on the Manuscript is a little different. I feel like her life is the Manuscript. She has frequently talked about writing in journals her whole life. So, for me, each reference is talking about notable things that symbolized her relationships. (French press, dart board on the door, kids' cereal, movies (Joe), etc.) When she talks about looking back... she's literally looking back over the agony of all her past relationships and reading back over her diaries. Now those stories, that pain, that heartbreak is all for us.

At the time this came out Lana got a huge feminist backlash because she was seen as making light of domestic violence by making it sound glamorous and Lorde said Lana was one of her biggest influences but also called her out for her lack of feminism in her music. Thus this song is a diss track to Lorde 😂

Video Games went extremely viral before she even released an album. In a way Lana was the first "SoundCloud rapper" where she gets famous off a couple songs released online and no real album behind it. Since this didn't happen much in 2012 everyone including professional music writers were calling her an industry plant or calling her quick fame suspicious. When shes talking about her fame shes probably talking about this.

One of my favorite albums and I'm a guy. I play the whole album through while I'm trying to sleep at night. There are no tracks I would skipped. I think it's a masterpiece. Gotta give a lot of credit to Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys.
